One of Netflix’s most intriguing documentaries, Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal, will release its much-awaited Season 2 soon. With the mystery of what went down in the Murdaugh family still incomplete, this time, Netflix will take a deeper dive into the murders, bringing every hidden detail out into the open.
First seen on Netflix earlier this year in February 2023, Murdaugh Murders is a documentary series exploring the murders tied to a prominent family from Hampton called the Murdaughs. Known for generational Law firm business, the Infamous Murdaughs were the people everyone in the town knew about.
Despite their efforts to cover up the blood on their hands all these years, with the death of Mallory Beach, all of their wrongdoings started coming into the light one by one. Netflix takes us through these murders, with real interviews of families and friends who knew the Murdaughs too well.
After the first season talked about the deaths of Mallory Beach, Gloria, and others, there’s still plenty of the Murdaugh story left to uncover, the biggest being the double homicide of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh.
Murdaugh Murders A Southern Scandal Season 1: Recap
Season 1 of Murdaugh Murders began with an insight into Mallory Beach’s death. Mallory was a mutual friend of Paul Murdaugh, the younger son of Alex Murdaugh. After drinking too much, Paul decided to take his friends on a boat ride despite being inebriated.
Paul was driving the boat at high speed, and it eventually crashed onto a bridge. When Paul and everyone else realized what happened, Mallory was nowhere to be seen. A sweet soul like Mallory became the first known victim of this family’s dark side.
We saw sad and heartbreaking interviews with Mallory and Paul’s mutual friends, such as Anthony, Morgan, Miley, and many others who were present at the time of this incident. We also see Paul’s abusive side, which was the first red flag for his girlfriend, Morgan.
Mallory’s death wasn’t the only shady thing Murdaughs tried to cover up. They were deeply involved in a drug business, with Alex being an addict as well.
Gloria, the Murdaugh family’s housekeeper, was suspiciously found dead by Maggie, Alex’s wife. This death was likely the result of Gloria finding out about Murdaugh’s family’s dark business, as said in the interviews of this series.
