Moonlight Peaks is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch later this week, but players looking for a physical copy have another option. While the farming life simulation game will be available as a digital-only release in North America, publisher Eastasiasoft has confirmed that Japan will receive boxed editions for both Nintendo platforms, complete with the full game on the cartridge.
The announcement is particularly good news for collectors and international fans because the Japanese physical release includes English language support alongside Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and German. Since Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 are region-free, players outside Japan can import the physical version without compatibility issues. Pre-orders for both editions are now available through Japanese retailers.
Japan’s physical release offers an import-friendly option
The Japanese release stands out because it includes the entire game on the cartridge instead of requiring a download, making it an attractive option for collectors and players who prefer physical media.
Thanks to built-in English support, importing the game is straightforward for overseas fans. Nintendo’s region-free hardware allows physical games from Japan to run on consoles purchased in North America, Europe, and other regions without additional setup.
Although the North American version remains digital-only, the Japanese release provides an alternative for those who want to add Moonlight Peaks to their physical game library.
A supernatural farming adventure with romance and magic
Developed by Little Chicken Game Company, Moonlight Peaks blends cozy farming mechanics with supernatural fantasy. Players take on the role of a young vampire who inherits an abandoned homestead in a town inhabited by werewolves, witches, mermaids, and other magical creatures.
Rather than embracing traditional vampire stereotypes, the protagonist works to prove to their skeptical father that compassion can define life as one of the undead. Players can grow enchanted crops, raise mystical livestock, cast spells, brew potions, and customize a gothic-style farmhouse while uncovering the history of the town’s seven influential families.
The game also features relationship-building with more than two dozen romanceable characters, allowing players to develop friendships or pursue romantic storylines while exploring the mysteries surrounding Moonlight Peaks.
Farming, exploration, and relaxing side activities
Beyond farming, Moonlight Peaks offers a variety of activities common to life simulation games. Players can fish, forage for resources, craft potions, and take part in hobbies such as embroidery and flower arranging. The game also includes collectible cards for Nokturna, an in-world card game that can be played against other residents.
Vampire abilities further distinguish the experience, allowing players to shapeshift into different forms and use magical powers to assist with exploration and resource gathering.
With pre-orders now open for the Japanese physical editions, international fans who prefer boxed games have a convenient way to experience Moonlight Peaks on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch when it launches.
