TMS Entertainment has officially revealed an exciting new fan experience for anime lovers with the announcement of the Detective Conan Cinema Tour 2026. Designed as a nationwide celebration of one of anime’s most enduring franchises, the tour will bring the latest film, Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram, to major conventions across the United States.

The initiative is set to give both longtime fans and newcomers a chance to experience the film in a communal, big-screen setting throughout the year.

Anime Expo Premiere Kicks Off the Nationwide Tour

The tour begins with a highly anticipated North American premiere screening at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 4. This kickoff event will serve as the centerpiece of the launch, offering attendees an early look at the film alongside interactive activities. Visitors to the TMS booth during the convention can also participate in a Detective Conan trivia quiz, with exclusive merchandise available as rewards, adding an extra layer of engagement to the experience.

Following its debut, the Cinema Tour will travel across several major anime conventions, including Otakon in Washington, D.C., Anime NYC in New York, L.A. Comic Con in Los Angeles, Anime Weekend Atlanta, and Anime Frontier in Texas. Each stop is expected to feature screenings that highlight the cinematic scale of the franchise while connecting fans through shared enthusiasm for its long-running mystery storytelling.

Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram continues the franchise’s signature blend of suspense and action. The story centers around a warning letter sent by the elusive Kid the Phantom Thief, targeting historical katanas linked to the Shinsengumi. As Conan Edogawa and his rival ally Heiji Hattori attempt to thwart the heist, a parallel murder investigation unfolds involving a mysterious swordsman and a weapon rumored to hold immense power. The layered narrative promises a mix of historical intrigue, crime-solving, and high-stakes confrontation.

The broader Detective Conan franchise, originally created by Gosho Aoyama, remains one of the most successful detective series in global entertainment. Since its manga debut in 1994, the series has sold over 270 million copies worldwide, while the anime adaptation, which began in 1996, has grown into a cultural staple with more than 1,000 episodes and nearly 30 films. The franchise’s films alone have generated over $1 billion at the global box office, consistently breaking records in Japan.

At its core, the story follows Shinichi Kudo, a teenage detective who is transformed into a child after being poisoned by a mysterious organization. Living under the alias Conan Edogawa, he continues solving complex cases while pursuing the shadowy group responsible for his condition. This central premise has helped the series stay relevant across generations.
