The Monogatari Series anime has sent fans into a frenzy with the launch of a mysterious countdown clock on its official website. The countdown is set to end on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Japan Time, eager fans await the revelation of what the “Y” may signify.
This isn’t the first time the Monogatari Series has teased an upcoming announcement through cryptic countdowns.
Back in January, Aniplex kicked off anticipation with a similar countdown featuring the letters “O” and “M,” eventually revealing plans for an anime adaptation of the Off Season and Monster Season books penned by acclaimed author NisiOisin.
Nisio Isin’s novel series first debuted in 2006 with the release of the two-volume Bakemonogatari story, which later served as the foundation for the initial anime adaptation in 2009. Since then, the series has continued to enthrall audiences with its intricate narrative, distinctive art style, and memorable characters.
The Off-Season volumes, comprising Orokamonogatari, Wazamonogatari, Nademonogatari, and Musubimonogatari, offer a collection of short stories set at various points throughout the Monogatari universe.
Meanwhile, the Monster Season novels, including Shinobumonogatari, Yoimonogatari, Amarimonogatari, Ōgimonogatari, and the two-volume Shinomonogatari, get into new chapters of the franchise, showcasing the characters’ lives during their college years.
With the latest novel, Ikusamonogatari, hitting shelves in May 2023, fans are eager to see how the Monogatari Series will continue to evolve its rich lore as the countdown clock ticks down, anticipation mounts for what promises to be an exciting new chapter in this beloved anime franchise.
