So it’s a wrap on the story of two heists that changed the television world. Right from the first two seasons that told us about the Royal Mint of Spain Heist. To the heist of Bank Of Spain that came with way too many complications as it went on through the last three seasons. Right from stronger enemies like Gandhia to Army taking over the job Tamayo couldn’t finish. But here we are marking the end of the Greatest Heist in history as we look at the ending of Money Heist Season 5 Part 2.
So we began Money Heist Season 5 Part 1 on the note where for the first time Professor was caught. Alicia Sierra became the only person to track him down in his own den. But by the end of part 1, tables had certainly turned. Sagasta’s team took down a strong member of the gang despite them going down as well. But he still had one last move in his arsenal. Alicia Sierra switched sides but by that time, a new player had entered the game who stole the gold from Professor at the last moment. That too at such a crucial one where the army was in the process of taking down the whole gang. So before we move to that, here is a complete recap on the events of Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 before we move to the ending.
Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 Recap
Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 opens up in the aftermath of a war between the gang and Sagasta’s soldiers. While the gang lost Tokyo and is grief, Tamayo is happy that they finally got someone down. Until Sagasta revealed the number of soldiers he lost as well. Still, Sagasta wanted to continue his mission to put an end to this heist and he vows to do the same. Meanwhile, at Professor’s hideout, Sierra escaped. Professor and Marseille left the hideout to hunt her down. The gang is on its own again at a moment where Sagasta wants to crack a deal with them. To get his soldier the medication he needs, Sagasta was ready to surrender.
Tamayo planned to garner support using the fallen soldiers’ family but the gang got to them first. They expressed the grief of Tokyo’s loss live on television. At the same time, Sierra managed to hold Professor captive and locked him in her car’s trunk. She invited Tamayo to his own house where she held his wife at gunpoint. She tried to blackmail him but Tamayo had already alerted the cops. Professor made it out of the trunk and came to rescue Sierra in time. They managed to hide sneakily inside a house’s sofa as they tricked the army who were looking for them inside every apartment and house in the city.
Amidst this, the gang felt happiness again when they managed to get the gold through the extraction pump. Once that part was done, Marseille and Benjamin through a garbage truck came to rescue Professor and Sierra who hid inside dust bins. By that time, Tamayo’s team figured out that they might be taking the gold through pipes as they saw some movement there. Tamayo sent Suarez’s team to every possible exit point to stop them.
Professor, Marseille, and Benjamin returned to their hideout where they were receiving gold from the bank. The only problem is, by the time they returned, the cops knew about their plan. Professor was away and didn’t know what was going down. They heard the sirens and Professor asked his team to surrender as there is no way to fight back.
When the cops kept them inside the trucks for longer than usual, Professor came to realize that something is wrong. Coming out, Professor summed up that it was all an illusion and someone stole the gold. The real cops never got to their hideout. Next, we see Rafael and Tatiana as the ones who stole the gold from them. If losing gold was not a big enough problem, Sagasta’s one officer Arteche was still alive and moving. She was making moves through the vent, waiting for the exact moment to strike.
Amidst all of this, we also saw a love triangle between Denver, Monica, and Manilla. A number of flashbacks where Palermo and Berlin planned this heist and presented it to the Professor. Also the time, Tatiana broke up with Berlin and chose his son Rafael over him.
Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 Ending Explained: Rafael & Tatiana’s Plan
Somebody stole the money and the gang was left figuring out who? It had to be someone else from the gang who knew about the plan all along? Professor tried to track down the trucks only to find nothing but a place that suggested these thieves were planning this all along. Probably the moment they saw it on TV. While Professor speculated the way these thieves might have shifted the gold, Palermo came to realize that it was Tatiana. Lisbon believes people talk in bed and that’s what Berlin did.
Professor tried to track down every possible place Tatiana and Rafael might have taken the gold to. This time around, he wasn’t able to do it. He was caught in the same illusions he used to create once. This suggests, they are around somewhere and they haven’t left the country for sure. Cut to Rafael and Tatiana, they did the same what Professor predicted by planting the gold on private property in the same city.
The Gang Taken Down
Professor wanted to chase the lead to find Tatiana & Rafael, but things went south inside the bank. Sagasta’s plan was in motion. It not only involved Arteche but also the officer who was treated and the doctors treating him. The doctors were part of the army too. Upon seeing the window, Arteche took down Palermo, and following the same, other army officers made their move. For Palermo, Helsinki who was bedridden decided to put down his weapon.
With hostages safe now, Sagasta signaled the rest of the army who made it inside the bank. They took down every other gang member one by one. The team had to surrender and Tamayo was happier than ever. With the help of Lisbon’s radio, Tamayo contacted the professor who decided to surrender himself. If the whole team goes down, he will go down with them is something he lived with.
Still, for Professor, this was a part of a new plan. If he wanted to save everyone from going to prison, he needed to surrender. Alicia had to take the responsibility of finding the gold while Professor left for the Bank. He entered the place amidst the crowd supporting them. On the other side, Tamayo found out that there is no gold left inside the bank. The country is bound to go into a financial crisis. He needed to make up for that and suggested firing to continue so that world thinks the fight is still on.

The Hunt For Gold
Despite being under custody, Professor still had a plan going on in his head. Denver initially had concerns about this plan failing in the past. With events turning the way he imagined, Denver expressed himself. Tamayo promised to let the first person go free with a new identity if he/she gives up the location of the gold. Upon declining, he will walk in front of a large number of people outside and cops would place him under arrest immediately. Denver was the first in the line of interrogation but he didn’t give up and faced consequences.
Professor and Lisbon were kept away from the rest of the group. Meanwhile, Alicia and Benjamin figured out a private property could be the only way to keep the gold under wraps safely. They took a look at the records of private property bought in the last five days. Then also found one such property that looks completely fabricated. The only problem was, Tatiana and Rafael had their own alarms on that crossing, it saw them and their team is coming to attack. Sierra’s team and Tatiana and Rafael’s team were standing holding a staredown.
The Plan Of Giving Back The Gold
Professor had already contacted his hackers in Pakistan before surrendering. They had a task to broadcast a video occasionally that told the world about their plan of stealing the gold. The same video went on to abolish all the leads the cops had. Professor had enough illusions that led the cops to run in circles. With that, the financial market as the speculations suggests went down. The only chance Tamayo had was to talk to the Professor.
Sierra and Tatiana were wondering who should shoot first. Tatiana knew some part of the Bank Of Spain’s Heist and the rest she assumed. The plan to give up gold is something that she didn’t want and she is not giving it up. No one saw that coming but yes, Professor came to negotiate with Tamayo about giving up the gold. Professor suggested, “Either they both win or they both lose”. Professor wanted Tamayo to go out there and make a speech. Tamayo will deliver a message of Trust and Transparency and as soon as he does, two trucks full of gold will return to the bank. So yes, Professor was giving up the gold and it was all part of the plan with a bigger twist coming into play.
The Final Twists & Turns
First of all, How did the gold come back? Well, Sierra came up with a note that Professor gave and asked to be handed out to Rafael. She did the same during the confrontation. What was written in the note remains a secret but it did manage to make Tatiana and Rafael give up the gold. We believe the note had to do with the connection Professor, Berlin and Rafael had in the past. One of the past sequences told us the reason Professor planned all these heists. It somewhere reminded Professor of his father who died doing the same. It was about family Apart from that, the note remains a secret.
Coming back to the gold, Tamayo figured out that it’s not real gold. The ingots in the truck are nothing but gold-coated brass. This fueled him with anger who decided to put the entire Professor’s team on gunpoint. Tamayo didn’t understand Professor who initially went on to portray himself as a Robinhood. Professor confessed he is a thief, son of a thief, brother of a thief, and hopes to be a father of a thief.
Professor tried to explain to Tamayo how the brass reserve could be a win-win situation for both of them. He told him about a country’s economy that may stay strong despite the brass ingots for years to come and no one will notice it. If Tamayo kills them today and tells the world that all they got is brass, the economy will fall drastically. The country will go broke and it will be the end. Tamayo kept listening to him as he counted to 1 and we finally heard gunshots from inside the bank.
Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 – The Conclusion
Towards the ending of Money Heist Season 5 Part 2, Tamayo addressed the end of the heist announcing the release of final hostages and the death of every gang member of Professor. That included Professor himself. Denver became part of the witness protection program. But what we saw was just another part of the Professor’s illusion. Inside the trucks that took the gang’s bodies. The body bags came down unzipping and out came the gang members all alive in flesh.
Professor went on to explain that the real hostage was gold, all along. Rafael is promised to have his share as it’s a matter of a family. Each and every member reunited one last time at an airport. They celebrated in grace together and soon army handed them their new passports and identities. Alicia Sierra paid a last visit for her passport and identity and to also tell the location of the gold. She moved the entire house of Rafael and Tatiana to somewhere in Portugal. The ending of Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 saw the gang sitting in a helicopter heading for their new life.
