Mission Impossible 8 Filming Locations
Møre og Romsdal, Norway
Trollveggen and Hellesylt were two key locations used for action scenes in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” that were filmed in Mre og Romsdal. On the cliff of Helsetkopen, the famous motorbike leap sequence was captured on film.
Meanwhile, the action sequences featuring Ethan on a train were filmed in the Rauma municipality’s daisies. A handful of the action movie’s scenes also include the town of Stranda.
Birmingham, England
The ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One production crew also set up shop in Birmingham, a city and metropolitan district in the West Midlands.
While filming some crucial scenes inside the station in August 2021, the production crew used the Grand Central train station in Birmingham as a stand-in for the Abu Dhabi International Airport. One of the locations for filming is the Bull Ring’s main commercial district.
Other Locations in England
The director and his crew also traveled to other areas in England, including London, for shooting. In addition, in the nearby Darlton Quarry in Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire, they built a sizable set of a railway line and part of a bridge over the cliff edge where they shot the train accident scenario with a replica Britannia Class engine being thrown off the cliff.
The filmmaking crew used the locations of Levisham in North Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to capture the scenario with a train traveling at 60 mph across a bridge in the Swiss Alps. Additional locations used for filming include the Bedfordshire town of Leighton Buzzard and Honister Pass on the B5289 road in Cockermouth, Cumbria.
Additionally, crucial scenes for the Christopher McQuarrie-directed film were recorded at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, on Warner Drive, and at Longcross Film Studios in Longcross, Chertsey, on Chobham Lane.
Longcross Film Studios has eight separate sound stages, 200 acres of backlot area, a two-and-a-half mile test track, and an off-road course, while the former has 19 sound stages and a sizable backlot area of more than 55 acres. Both of them are great options for various productions because of these features.
Rome, Italy
Rome, home of the Colosseum, also functioned as a makeshift base camp for the ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One production crew as they shot numerous significant outdoor sequences.
Ethan’s thrilling automobile chase scenario led us down a number of the city’s streets, including Via Nazionale, Via di S. Maria Maggiore, Via dei Serpenti, Via del Traforo, and Via dei Funari.
Along with these locations, the cast and crew were also seen filming sequences at the Spanish Steps on Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Venezia, Via dei Fori Imperiali, Via Vittorino da Feltre, and Via Tor de Conti.
