Minecraft is officially making the jump to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Mojang has confirmed that the sandbox phenomenon will launch on October 27, 2026, bringing visual enhancements tailored for Nintendo’s latest console along with an upgraded version of the exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up Pack.

The announcement, shared by Minecraft.net, confirms that players upgrading to Nintendo Switch 2 can expect improved visuals while retaining access to the game’s extensive content library.

Switch 2 version brings enhanced graphics and Mario content

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will feature Vibrant Visuals as its default graphical mode, delivering enhanced lighting, shadows, and other visual effects across supported gameplay and Marketplace content.

Announcing the release date, Mojang wrote,

“Minecraft is coming for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27th!”

The studio also explained that the upgraded visuals extend to supported Marketplace creations, giving players a more polished experience on the new hardware.

Nintendo-exclusive content is also receiving an update. The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, which includes a Mario-themed world, custom music, character skins, and iconic locations such as Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza, has been refreshed to take advantage of the improved graphics available on Switch 2.

Mojang noted that Vibrant Visuals will not be available in certain gameplay modes, including split-screen sessions and some Marketplace worlds.

Players who already own Minecraft on the original Nintendo Switch won’t need to purchase the game again. Mojang confirmed that a digital upgrade path will be available for current owners, with additional details to be announced closer to launch.

Minecraft remains one of the best-selling video games of all time, and its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 ensures the game will continue to support Nintendo’s latest hardware with improved visuals while maintaining compatibility with its signature gameplay experience.
