Michael Bublé paid tribute to Prince Harry during a recent performance at the Invictus Games celebrations in Vancouver, Canada.
The Grammy winner, aged 48, performed Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” with modified lyrics, praising the Duke of Sussex as a “visionary” and extending healing wishes to King Charles amidst his cancer diagnosis.
The rendition occurred at the One Year to Go Dinner event at the Vancouver Convention Center, with Bublé highlighting his Canadian pride to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, before his performance.
“Who knew, dreams can come true, when life tells you, you’re far from finished / Nothing tames, Invictus Games, you play them your way / One man, life-changing plan, he does all he can, he’s a visionary / Our healing wishes for your dad / You’ve earned each day, the right to say, I did it my way,” Bublé then sang.
Bublé has a history with “My Way,” having previously performed it on tour and recorded a studio version with Andrea Bocelli and Paul Anka, aged 82, in 2021 as part of Anka’s Making Memories LP.
In 2022, Bublé shared insights before the launch of his album Higher. The album featured a cover of another Sinatra classic, “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” reflecting on his career as a performer.
“I’m a protector of the great American songbook, and I know that I stand on the shoulders of my heroes,” Bublé said of covering the greats. “The great American songbook, I think, is the greatest thing that America ever gave to the arts.”
“So the fact that I can be a small part of protecting it and keeping it alive and introducing it to a new generation of people is honestly pretty humbling to me. I will always take it seriously, and I will always do my best to make my heroes proud.”
Bublé’s serenade occurred following his participation in wheelchair curling with Prince Harry and Meghan, aged 42, at the Hillcrest Community Centre in Vancouver on Friday.
After attending the Winter Training Camp, preceding the commencement of the 2025 Invictus Games for service personnel and veterans in Whistler and Vancouver, the Duke expressed gratitude to the audience for their dedication to making the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 a reality.
“When I am with the Invictus community surrounded by so many brave men and women who have served their countries with distinction, I feel humbled and at home.”
Prince Harry added saying,
“The past decade has been a testament to the power of resilience and the unbreakable spirit you all exemplify.”
“And boy have we had fun on the way! From this trip, I am happy to report the air is thick with excitement, and the best part is, we’re just getting started. The Invictus Games are not just a competition; they’re a way of life, a celebration of the human spirit.”
