Megan Thee Stallion announced her third studio album, set to release on June 28th under her Hot Girl Productions label. She revealed the news and album artwork, featuring her suspended in a butterfly cocoon, during a rescheduled concert in Atlanta after postponements due to burst water pipes and outages.
She released three singles ahead of her album “Megan,” including “Cobra,” “Boa,” and “Hiss.” “Hiss” sparked controversy online, with Nicki Minaj interpreting a line as directed towards her, leading to the first rap beef of the year.
Despite the controversy, “Hiss” became Megan’s first solo No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.
In a recent interview, Megan further explained,
“I don’t even know how to describe [the new album], honestly. ‘Hiss’ was me just getting the things that I had to say off my chest. I’m really not focused on the negativity on my album. I have a lot of different songs on the album because my emotion doesn’t stop at anger.
My emotion doesn’t stop at sadness because I did grow and I did start feeling more things. I started feeling really happy.
So you have songs on the album that are about the positive times that I’m starting to have. You get a little bit of everything. You get all the emotions in there.”
“Megan” marks Megan Thee Stallion’s first album since 2022’s “Traumazine” and her first since transitioning to being a fully independent artist.
Megan Thee Stallion holds full ownership of her masters and publishing under Hot Girl Productions while collaborating with Warner Music Group and its international branches.
Managed by Roc Nation, she exercises complete creative control over her music releases and has the flexibility to include artists signed to her imprint.
She will resume her “Hot Girl Summer Tour” with upcoming stops in Raleigh, N.C., Hollywood, Fla., and Tampa Bay.
