The high-stakes food competition MasterChef: The Professionals will return in 2023 and challenge 32 more professional cooks to compete for the title of future MasterChef champion.
This most recent group of exceptional cooks will once again encounter a variety of demanding tasks over seven exhausting weeks, reducing them to the finest of the best. The final three will then have one more opportunity to showcase all they have learned throughout the competition to the panel.
Another well-known personality is present in the MasterChef kitchen this season. Veteran judges Gregg Wallace and Marcus Wareing, who have received a Michelin star, have reconnected with fellow chef Monica Galetti for season 16.
After Galetti took a leave of absence from the show in 2021 to concentrate on her family and her restaurant business, Morning Live’s resident chef, Anna Haugh, took her place. The BBC also disclosed the names of the cooking experts our candidates will be attempting to win over in the competition’s subsequent rounds. William Sitwell, Jay Rayner, Jimi Famurewa, Leyla Kazim, Tom Parker Bowles, Tracey MacLeod, and Grace Dent are a few of them.
What Is The Format Of MasterChef: The Professionals Season 16?
The chefs, selected from kitchens around the United Kingdom, are put through their paces over seven demanding weeks and twenty-one episodes. Four chefs compete against one another for just two quarterfinal spots in each heat.
The Skills Test, where Monica and Marcus invite our chefs to create their version of a specific dish, will be the first challenge they must complete in their different heats. To secure one of the two slots in the quarterfinals, the chefs will also have 90 minutes to prepare an exquisite three-course dinner for the judges.
Then, they’ll take on the Invention Test, where they have to come up with a brand-new, MasterChef-caliber dish based on a specific requirement to impress some of the top culinary reviewers in the UK.
After that, the top 12 chefs will go to Knockout Week, where they will compete in an all-contestant cook-off, among other challenges. Eight will move on to the semi-finals, where they will receive additional themed briefs, be divided into two teams, and be sent to work in upscale Staffordshire and London restaurants.
After that, the Final Four will take on the ultimate challenge at Chef’s Table, where they will have to prepare food for some of the best chefs in the UK, who together have 25 Michelin stars. This will remove one last chef, giving the Final Three their only opportunity to win the MasterChef trophy by impressing the judges.
It sounds like the conclusion of the competition will be quite enjoyable. We transport the final three chefs to Copenhagen to provide a service at the two-Michelin-starred Alchemist, one of the top five restaurants in the world. Monica Galetti hinted when we asked whether they could divulge anything about the finale. Rasmus Munk, co-owner and chef, approaches food in a somewhat dramatic manner.
Recap
Returning for its sixteenth season, the competition pits 32 aspirational chefs from around the nation against one another to see who will win in 2023. Tests of skills are awaiting four more chefs. Two get to prep and cook spiced monkfish, and the others get to show off their pastry skills by making a banana sundae twist. For this year’s first quarterfinal, the top five cooks from the first two heats return to battle in the MasterChef kitchen.
