After a suspenseful and eventful Chapter, Saeah has finally awakened as a player but it turns out that her worst nightmare has also come true. Saeah awakening was met with heartbreak as she had gotten an F-grade gift which is something she had hoped to avoid. Is this F-grade gift actually a hidden gem? Or is Saeah really doomed? Martial God Regressed To Level 2 Chapter 40 opens up with Heesoo trying to make Saeah agree to give the interview but Saeah is strictly against it. When all her pleadings fail, Heesoo takes the help of emotional blackmail by telling Saeah that her feelings would be hurt if she didn’t take the interview. Heesoo further adds that she doesn’t want people to blame her friend because of the sword king.

Heesoo tells Saeah that she had to nag her grandpa a lot just to make him help Saeah. Saeah couldn’t stand the continuous nagging from Heesoo so she just thanked her for everything she had done so far and then she walked out of the classroom. Heesoo’s demeanor instantly changes as she gets furious at Saeah for not being obedient to her.
Heesoo throws some slurs at Saeah but then she calms down and decides to just wait at the gift hall tonight. She smiles menacingly and decides to pick a journalist with her to visit the gift hall so that she can broadcast Saeah when she gets an F-grade gift(this won’t age well for Heesoo).
Meanwhile, Saeah locks herself in the washroom and thinks about how Heesoo is just trying to use her. She recalls the time when she heard Heesoo telling her friends how she was just using Saeah to help her family Journalism. All Heesoo wants from Saeah is to just fall deeper into the abyss so that she can gain more fame.
Despite her friendly outer appearance, all Heesoo wants is for Saeah to get an F-grade gift so that she can enjoy her reaction. Saeah’s best friend turned out to be someone who just wanted to use her, and this news left Saeah in complete shock. Saeah started to feel uneasy because she thought she would get an F-grade gift.
Back in the gift room, Saeah stands in the wishing area and thinks that she can’t get an F-grade gift because then she would truly fall into the abyss. Saeah knows that there might be other people like Heesoo around her, so she begs the gift-giving machine to please give her something good. The Machine shines with a bright red light and Saeah finally gets a glimpse of her gift but her expression doesn’t look too good.
The focus shifts to 5 hours before Saeah’s awakening. Jihan steps out of her office to go to the gift hall. He asks his security guards to look after the gift hall until Saeah comes out, and so they all get stationed outside the hall. Jihan makes it clear to the guards that they should not allow any outsider to reach the gift hall, including the reporters, because even the government is paying special attention to this.
Yoonsik also offered to send guards for Saeah’s security because he was also aware of the gravity of this matter. Jihan arrives at the gift hall and then he decides to wait outside until Saeah has awakened. He sits down and wishes that this gift would bring comfort to Saeah.
5 hours go by, and Jihan continues to wait for Saeah, but suddenly, someone strange arrives at the gift hall. Jihan gets cautious because he fears that it’s someone who wants to harm Saeah, but this strange person turns out to be Heesoo. Jihan gets furious after seeing that Heesoo has brought a reporter with her, so he asks her to leave immediately or he would have to take action.
Jihan also asks Heesoo how she got into this area because he has already instructed the guards to keep everyone out. Heesoo tries to make excuses, but Jihan easily finds out that she has sneaked into the area by evading the guards, this makes him even more angry. The reporter gets scared after seeing Jihan’s angry expression and so he wonders if it’s better to run away.
Heesoo continues to act arrogant and then she throws her final move. She signals someone to ambush Jihan from behind while he’s off guard. Meanwhile, inside the gift hall, Saeah falls to her knees as she finds out that her gift is an F-grade named “Late Bloomer”. Saeah gets depressed, thinking that it’s all over for her, but outside the gift hall, Jihan is about to go berserk!
