Relationship experts, psychologists, and a few other professionals convened at the beginning of the seventeenth season of the show to determine which of the chosen players should marry which other.
The audience does not trust the experts’ judgment when they assemble a group of people based on scant information, although this is not even the show’s worst aspect. The fact that the couples are paired off first, meet at the altar, get married, and then go on their honeymoon is previously known to fans.
Their honeymoon season finally came to an end in a recent episode of the show, which allowed them to begin their lives together as a regular couple. There are now only three couples left on the show, down from the original five, and the viewers do not even find them to be particularly stable.
Although the experts’ success rate in finding couples and keeping them together for longer than the show’s duration was never particularly high, this season appears to have gone above and beyond. We only have three couples on the show now, instead of the five that were originally planned: Emily Balch and Brennan Shoykhet, Clare Kerr and Cameron Frazer, and Becaa Haley and Austin Reed.
Recap
The mid-season trailer for The Married at First Sight season 17 gave viewers plenty of drama to look forward to. It was intended for five couples to get married to strangers this season. There are now just three couples left in the experiment, and they are all flawed.
When Orion returned from his honeymoon, he asked Lauren for a divorce before they had even moved in together. Michael’s bride had abandoned him at the altar. The mid-season teaser managed to revitalize stories and give optimism to a waning season, even if the season is already down to couples.
Although Becca and Austin clicked right away, they weren’t talking about the difficult things that could cause them to break up. Austin wants to go more slowly, and Becca wants intimacy yesterday. Their relationship is getting toxic because Clare isn’t allowing Cameron the room he needs to feel loved.
Both Cameron and Clare believe that religion is essential to raising children and that it cannot be compromised. Brennan declared he wasn’t attracted to Emily after returning from their honeymoon, but he didn’t elaborate on why. There are important matters for each of the couples to resolve.
Although Becca and Austin appear to be in tune with one another, this is turning out to be a disguise for deeper problems. In the season 17 teaser for Married at First Sight, Austin mentioned how much he enjoyed seeing Becca behave well with children, and Becca disclosed that Austin had “accidentally” confessed his love for her.
But Austin was seen addressing Becca about having too much control over his feelings. Brennan commented, “It kind of feels like you want me to just not think for myself all the time after what you said.”

It is customary for the spouses to go horseback riding, ice skating, and skiing on their special day. The summary suggests that not everyone is feeling festive, as a husband’s SMS message causes his wife to cry.
