Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 20, 1969, Mannie Fresh, originally Bryon Otto Thomas, is a professional rapper and American record producer. Bryon has been a part of the music industry for a long time since he started to work in early 1984. Bryon was brought up in New Orleans and was influenced by DJ Sabu, his father into music and hip hop.
Mannie achieved his high-school degree from Joseph S. Clark Preparatory High School. Mannie began his partnership with MC Gregory D, a rapper, in the late 1980s. In 1987, the duo released their first album titled Throwdown, which proved to be a massive success.
Bryson made the top of the charts with Thomas’s help for the Hot Boys, composed of Lil Wayne, Turk and B.G. Thomas and Williams partnered together to form the Big Tymers, with their respective stage names being Birdman and Mannie Fresh. Mannie’s first album consisted of 30 tracks and featured Real Big, which became an instant hit. Bryon split from Cash Money in 2005 and joined Def Jam South for financial reasons. Bryon released Return Of The Ballin, his second solo album, on 27 October 2009.

Some notable tracks featured in Bryon’s second album were Real Big, The DJ, and Mayor Song. Bryon is single as of 2023, and the music producer doesn’t have any kids even though he is in his late 50s.

Mannie Fresh has been one of the least controversial personalities in Hollywood with his calm and easygoing personality. Still, Mannie became a part of the controversy when Cash Money and he were planning a settlement after Fresh accused them of pay disparity. Mannie has stated his regrets about the way Cash Money has treated and represented the Hip Hop culture to the public.
Fresh has stated he percieved hip-hop as a form of education and expressed his regret for it becoming invisible. Mannie sued the record label for an undisclosed sum which got settled in mid-2006. Mannie stated he wanted to do more than what the label allowed. Fresh has been open about having difficulties getting royalties for his work in the past with the record label.
