MANGA MIRAI is preparing to shut down on December 15, 2026, bringing an end to its digital manga service in the United States. While readers will be able to transfer eligible purchases to its sister platform, MangaPlaza, the transition comes with a significant limitation: 139 manga titles will not be available on the new service because of publisher licensing restrictions.
The closure means readers could lose access to several popular series through MANGA MIRAI, including Baki, Your Lie in April, A Silent Voice, and Attack on Titan: No Regrets Complete Color Edition. The shutdown is particularly disappointing for readers who purchased or collected titles on the platform expecting to keep accessing them through a successor service.
MangaPlaza Transfer Excludes 139 Titles Because of Licensing Restrictions
MANGA MIRAI published its list of ineligible titles on October 20, 2026. The official announcement confirms that publisher licensing restrictions and policies prevent these works from moving to MangaPlaza. The list includes several well-known manga, such as Baki, A Silent Voice, Your Lie in April, Fairy Tail, The Seven Deadly Sins, Mushishi, and Attack on Titan: No Regrets Complete Color Edition.
The Attack on Titan spin-off is particularly notable because it explores Levi Ackerman’s life before he joined the Survey Corps. Meanwhile, Your Lie in April and A Silent Voice are two acclaimed emotional dramas that readers will no longer be able to access through MangaPlaza using their MANGA MIRAI purchases.
The platform’s transition also affects how readers receive refunds. Free comics cannot be transferred, while paid titles appearing on the excluded list are eligible for refunds. However, customers who have already purchased an eligible title on MangaPlaza will not receive another transfer or refund for that duplicate purchase.

MANGA MIRAI Users Have Until November 30 to Transfer Eligible Purchases
Although MANGA MIRAI is scheduled to close on December 15, 2026, users still have time to move eligible purchases to MangaPlaza. They must create a MangaPlaza account using the exact same email address registered with MANGA MIRAI by November 30, 2026. Both accounts must retain matching email addresses until the shutdown date for the purchased comics to become available on the new platform.
The closure comes less than two years after MANGA MIRAI launched in March 2025. According to NTT DOCOMO’s announcement official press release, the service initially offered more than 28,000 volumes across approximately 2,400 manga titles. The company cited the current business environment as the reason for discontinuing the platform.
MangaPlaza will preserve access to eligible purchased titles, but the excluded list means that not every reader will be able to carry their entire digital collection forward. Readers can check the official MANGA MIRAI transfer announcement to see whether their purchases are affected before the service closes.
