Management of Novice Alchemist Episode 1 Review
This begins with a flashback to our heroine Sarasa’s final practical test. This was the final obstacle to her becoming an alchemist. Her back story is as follows. Sarasa is the daughter of merchant alchemists. They set off on a quick trip one day. It was supposed to be a quick trip. until bandits got involved. There were hints that greedy scumbags hired thugs to kill them so that their property could be claimed. Sarasa was abandoned at an orphanage after her parents passed away.
The caretakers were kind to her and realized she buried herself in her studies to bury her grief. As it turned out, an alchemist from the orphanage back then came to visit and revealed the truth. Sarasa inquired as to the requirements for becoming an alchemist like her parents. The steps were working hard, being determined, and going to a good school. It was a little slack. Any student from any socioeconomic class was welcome to enroll at the academy as long as they put in the necessary effort and didn’t make any mistakes.
Before the big exam, Sarasa didn’t fail a single one. Because of this, she didn’t have a social life, aka making friends, so much as she was used to focusing on her studies. She only ever spoke to Miss Maria, a merchant, and the two women above regularly. Be sure to watch how she behaves both before and after meeting Mistress Ophelia, her upcoming teacher. After five years, the big exam was finally here. The first thing was to get a haircut so that I wouldn’t seem like a brooding loner.
Next, it was time for the exam. Although she seemed to remember Mistress Ophelia’s training and thought that the teachers wanted her to think outside the box, this was a big mistake on their part of them. “There’s no way we’ll uncover this massive blunder,” they say, “the girl prepared a potent potion utilizing strong magic, so that’s more than enough to pass.” Having no friends to celebrate with after the graduation ceremony, Sarasa headed to the Mistress’ atelier to try to keep her loneliness at bay.
As Ophelia prepared for the start of her alchemical career, we saw a kind of montage of sorts. There are a few hints that perhaps were dropped that Sarasa would face obstacles in the future before becoming a Master Alchemist. The fact that Miss Maria was drinking ale made me very happy. Because she drank expensive wine, Miss Ophelia was an obvious girl magnet. Sarasa is excited to start her journey in an atelier in a woodland community beyond the mountains.
Being rather isolated, acquiring clients would be challenging, but Mistress Ophelia knew Sarasa was up for the challenge. Additionally, it was the cheapest one she could locate. A rundown dump farming simulator game is the biggest reason Sarasa’s atelier was so cheap, which the Mistress didn’t mention to her. The episode ended with a cutie staring enviously at our miserable heroine.
