Male Lead, I’ll Respect Your Taste is the story of a young woman who woke up in a novel she was reading. She found herself in the body of Alice Esteban, a side character from the novel The Tyrant’s Silver Flower. In the original story, Alice dies the day the main characters, Michael Elgar and Edwin Esteban, meet. With her knowledge of the Novel, Alice is trying to prevent it.
Her first move was to stop her mother, Katrina, from abusing Edwin. See, Edwin is the son of Duke Esteban from his first marriage. Katrina was just a maid at their Estate at that time. Katrina was the one who was responsible for the death of Duke Esteban’s first wife. She laced a herb into her food which induces hemophilia and turns the hair color of the child black.
Since neither parent had black hair, the child was deemed a product of extramarital affairs and was treated poorly all his life. After marrying the Duke, Katrina became the new Duchess and gave birth to Alice. Alice and Edwin are siblings, but only Katrina knows the truth. Katrina finds joy in torturing Edwin by beating him to near-death conditions.
Edwin is kept locked up alone at the top of a tower. Alice went ahead and changed the locks. Furthermore, she threatens her mother with exposing her secret if she doesn’t leave Edwin alone. In the meantime, Alice became close to Edwin. She fed him every day, read to him, and even called the family doctor to treat his wounds. Edwin forms a close attachment to Alice.
Furthermore, she was able to meet Michael, Dr. Evan’s younger brother. With some work, she was able to get to his good side also. With that, she has successfully befriended the people who are directly responsible for her death. At this point in the story, Edwin has been released from his chains and has met Michael. However, their relationship is not one like in the novel.

Alice had planned a Picnic with Michael, Edwin, and Evan. However, Michael got lost and stumbled upon Edwin practicing his swordsmanship. After seeing each other, they get into an argument, and that is when Alice walks in. Seeing the main characters of the novel gives her so much pleasure. She is sure that they are becoming closer with each passing day.
However, before she can appreciate it more, Alice gets a nosebleed and collapses to the ground. She woke up back at her residence with Evan and Michael looking after her. Turns out she became anemic and lost consciousness. Edwin came to visit only to be yelled at by Michael. Michael asks if he even considers Alice her friend, to which he replies that they are not friends.
The next day she wanted to do the picnic again, but just to be safe, they had it indoors, and Edwin did not show up. Furthermore, Alice is worried that even though she changed things, the events from the original plan might be coming true. Furthermore, she learned that Evan is going off to war as there is a shortage of Military doctors.
Alice does not want him to go, as in the original plot, Evan does not return from war. Alice pleads with him to stay, but it seems that he has already made up his mind. Alice gives Evan the Turquoise Gem necklace she got for his coming-of-age ceremony and asks him to come back alive. The scene then cuts to Duke Esteban’s residence, where Edwin is waiting for his father.

In the next chapter, we will get to know why Edwin decided to visit his father out of the blue. He just showed up at his residence unannounced, which outraged Duke Esteban. Furthermore, what was the secret thing Edwin talked to Evan about? Evan seems to be standing by his promise not to disclose its contents. Hopefully, the truth will be revealed before he heads off to war.
