A new original anime is heading to screens in 2027. Maiden Blood, a dark fantasy action series produced by Polygon Pictures, has revealed its first teaser trailer and key visual along with its main staff and cast. International release and streaming details have not yet been announced.
The series is set in a devastated world overrun by demons, where humanity’s survival depends on a group of powerful fighters known as blood warriors. Created through surgery and blood magic, these warriors use their own blood as both a source of power and a weapon. The story centers on two sisters, Eva and Epica, whose unusual bond could play a crucial role in the battle against the creatures that destroyed their world.
A Dark World Where Blood Is Humanity’s Last Weapon
The premise of Maiden Blood begins after Armageddon, the final conflict between good and evil, takes an unexpected turn. The world is left in chaos, the laws of nature have broken down, and human blood has become the most valuable resource for survival.
According to the official story description, blood serves as
“currency. Blood is fuel. Blood is—a weapon.”
After repeated sacrifices, mages develop a forbidden ritual that transforms human blood into weapons capable of killing demons.
Eva and Epica stand at the center of this conflict. Epica is described as the strongest blood warrior, but her soul has been taken from her. Eva, meanwhile, has been unable to walk since birth. However, Eva’s blood possesses the unique ability to awaken Epica’s dormant power, binding the sisters together in humanity’s desperate fight for survival.
The newly released teaser trailer offers the first look at the two sisters as they face terrifying enemies across the ruined world. Iori Saeki voices Eva, while Yukari Anzai plays Epica.
