Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie -Walpurgisnacht: Rising- will premiere exclusively in North American theaters from January 16 to 19, 2027. Aniplex of America and Fathom Entertainment announced the release dates during their New York Comic Con 2026 panel on October 8, confirming that the highly anticipated anime film will screen in both Japanese with subtitles and an English-dubbed version.
The announcement also brings several new viewing options for fans of the Madoka Magica franchise. The three earlier movies, Beginnings, Eternal, and Rebellion, will arrive on Crunchyroll on November 8, 2026, followed by their Netflix debut on January 2, 2027. For the first time, the trilogy will also receive Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs, expanding access for audiences across those language markets.
Alongside the release news, Aniplex revealed an exclusive US promotional visual illustrated by artist Namie. The company also confirmed a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray collection of the original movie trilogy, giving longtime fans another way to revisit the series before its next theatrical chapter arrives.

The three earlier films will provide viewers with an opportunity to revisit the story before watching Walpurgisnacht: Rising. Beginnings and Eternal retell the original television series, while Rebellion, released in 2013, continues the story beyond the television anime.
According to the announcement from Fathom Entertainment, the trilogy will debut on Crunchyroll on November 8, 2026, and arrive on Netflix on January 2, 2027. Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs will become available on November 15, marking the first time these movie versions have received dubs in those languages.

Collectors will also be able to purchase Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie Trilogy as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray set. The package includes all three films and features exclusive artwork by character designer Junichiro Taniguchi, along with Dolby Atmos sound.
The collection carries a standard retail price of $149.98 and is scheduled to release on October 15, 2026. Pre-orders are available through Crunchyroll and MediaOCD.

The upcoming film continues the franchise’s distinctive blend of magical-girl storytelling, psychological drama, and surreal imagery. Akiyuki Shinbo directs, Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus handles the screenplay, and character designs are based on the work of aokiume. SHAFT returns as the animation studio, with Gekidan InuCurry contributing its distinctive parallel-world designs and Yuki Kajiura composing the music.
Tickets for the North American theatrical event go on sale online and at participating theater box offices on December 11, 2026. Fans can watch the official trailer on YouTube and check Fathom Entertainment’s website for ticket updates and participating theaters.
