With its final episode out, ‘Lovers of The Red Sky’ has finally got to its ending. The fans have been following the story of Hong Chun Gi and Ha Ram. As their fates were tied together years ago. Going through so many near-death events, the show finally ended showing the future of star-crossed lovers. With the King being on his deathbed, the capital was in chaos. But as the King got back on his feet and met Ha Ram, things changed. Prince Yang Myung joined in their conversation as the King told Ha Ram about the things that went down on the ritual years ago.
Hearing that his father fought till death with the spirit of Ma Wang to save him. He fell to his knees crying, blaming himself for his father’s death. Sitting with Chun Gi, he tells her about him being Ilwolseong to take revenge from the royal family. But it turns out it was him all along. He takes her to the place his father was buried, so she can scatter the ashes of her father. After spending the day in the mountains, they go on to spend the night together. But getting close to her, the spirit of Ma Wang wakes up in him, as the demon is behind the eyes. He leaves her in the middle of the night.
Under The King’s Jury
While Prince Joo Yang is on his way to execute all the members of the painting society, Chun Gi is on her way to try to stop them. Reaching there on time, falling on her knees, she begs him to let all people go. As she tries to fight him for ordering the execution to go on, she is held back by the guards. And at the moment, the King arrives, ordering everyone to free and taking Prince Joo Yang with him. As the King takes Prince Joo Yang into his custody, he starts cursing him as he is putting his life on the line for the powers. Sick of his father belittling him like that, he reveals a burning scar on his body.
It was given to him by Ma Wang when brushed through him during the fire in the pavilion years ago. As the King asks why didn’t he tell him before, Prince Joo Yang says it wouldn’t have made any difference as he puts the country before his own son. Admitting him not being a good father and making his work more important, the King tells the guards to take the Prince into the lock-up. While Wol Sun visits Mi So and tells her to join the sealing ceremony as the host.
Lovers of The Red Sky Ending: What Was Hwacha’s Deal With Chun Gi?
As Chun Gi goes into the room, wondering why the portrait burned even though Wol Sun told her it was ready. The Hwacha arrives, offering a deal to her. As she asks why did her portrait got ruined, the Hwacha tells her it was because she didn’t make a deal with him. Telling her that the deal offers the divine aura, he shows her the flashback of her father painting the previous portrait. Hearing that she will only have to give him a painting, she makes the deal and goes on talking to Prince Yang Myung. But gets interrupted by the Wol Sun, telling them that the sealing ceremony will be the last chance to capture the Ma Wang.
While Ha Ram is in the forest trying to control and understand the next step. His grandfather, who was in prison with him, visits him. Telling him that he didn’t kill his father, he asks for a vessel to lock the Ma Wang in. Advising him to break the ring before the sealing ceremony, he disappears. After having a conversation with Prince Yang Myung, Ha Ram goes on to break the ring. As after many tries, it finally breaks, the demon comes out, telling him that it won’t be easy for him to let go.
What Happened At The Final Sealing Ceremony?
With the preparation of the Sealing Ceremony on the go, Chun Gi is working on the portrait as fast as she can, along with her friends. While Ha Ram is on his way to the ceremony to finally end it all. As Prince Yang Myung greets Ha Ram at the ceremony site, the spirit of Ma Wang takes over him. Breaking through the doors, he goes in looking for eyes. And finally, finding Chun Gi, Ma Wang snatches his eyes back. As she cries about not being able to see, she tries calling Ha Ram and snapping him back.
As Prince Yang Myung approaches her, she cries about not being able to fulfill the tasks. While they talk, Hawacha appears from behind, telling her to end everything by finishing the portrait. Handing her the brush, she tries to paint as Prince Yang Myung tries to guide. While Ma Wang is fighting with the goddess of life and the spirit of the tiger. As they thought they were getting a hold of her, it didn’t go their way. Remembering her father, she asks for his help and hears his voice in her head. She feels his spirit coming into her as she gets back to painting the portrait. Leaving her body and the world, he tells her to do the final touches in the eyes.
The Last Shot
Looking at the finished portrait of the late King, Hwacha comes forward to do his magic. And tells everyone to get ready to seal Ma Wang in. As Mi So tries to seal him in, he brushes her off. Saying it’s time to end it, the goddess of life goes all in. Taking Ma Wang with her straight into the portrait, she tells Chun Gi that now she can live together with Ha Ram. While Mi So vomits blood and lets her would leave the body. Ha Ram starts gaining consciousness. Looking up at the sky full of stars, he gets up, looks around, asking for Chun Gi, while she does the same. Finally holding her, he is able to see her but realizes she isn’t. Telling her that he will always take care of her, as she asks him if he’s okay.
Moving into the future, the days are bright with the Ma Wang finally locked in. The day is the birthday of Chun Gi and Ha Ram, as their friends and superiors get ready to meet them. While they are on their way, a person hands them a book and tells them to give it back to the rightful owner. Prince Joo Yang is still in prison, waiting for his rightful future, with his spies giving him all the updates he needs. Nobody knows if Chun Gi and Ha Ram are alive or not. The tale of Hwacha’s deal and Ha Ram’s grandfather advising him is popular among the citizens. While Ha Ram and Chun Gi live away from the village and have a son. Her eyesight is back as the curse is lifted with the demon getting sealed. While Prince Yang Myung visits them, he presents Ha Ram with an offer, making him one of the important parts of the royal family. Riding a horse together, Ha Ram takes Chun Gi to the field by the mountains, where they used to play together as kids.
Some of Joo Yang’s men arrive at the bank looking for Chun Gi but find no one. While at the palace, Prince Joo Yang is out on a killing spree, raging to find Chun Gi. As Prince Yang Myung and Prince Joo Yang come face to face, charging on each other with their armies, who wins between the brothers still remains a question. While the K-drama started off strong, it began to lose its charm in the middle because of the slow pace. But with the final episodes, ‘Lovers of The Red Sky’ made a solid comeback. Giving Chun Gi and Ha Ram the life they have been longing for all those years.
