With the release of BBC’s latest documentary shedding light on the infamous “Burning Sun Scandal,” numerous new faces and pieces of evidence have emerged, sparking further suspicions of artist involvement. Among the names that have surfaced, model-turned-actor Lee Cheol-woo, recently seen in the tvN drama ‘Lovely Runner,’ finds himself under scrutiny.
In response to allegations stemming from the documentary, Lee Cheol-woo released a statement on May 20th reiterating his innocence. He clarified that he had no association with the controversial chat room referenced in the documentary.
Lee emphasized that the chat room in question was solely a “program chat room” utilized during his participation in JTBC’s entertainment show “Hitmaker” in 2016. According to him, discussions in the chat were strictly limited to scheduling and filming details, with the chat disbanded upon completion of filming.
Expressing the toll of years of false information and malicious comments on himself, his family, and acquaintances, Lee Cheol-woo urged restraint in making unfounded speculations. He vowed to take strong action against malicious comments and the dissemination of false information.
Previously, Lee Cheol-woo’s alleged involvement in Jung Joon-young’s chat room during the Burning Sun incident had surfaced. However, his agency had clarified his non-involvement, asserting that Lee Cheol-woo had neither filmed nor distributed illegal videos.
They explained that his inclusion in a chat room with Jung Joon-young in 2016 was solely for program-related purposes, with the chat disbanding post-program completion.
