Love Village – Show’s Premise
Mature and experienced in life and love, the participants of the show enter the old-fashioned house in the peaceful countryside, ready to embrace a new romance. Many have been married before, some more than once, and accept this chance for a new love eagerly.
Before beginning the shooting for the show, all the contestants’ phones were confiscated by the producers to enhance communication and remove any elements of disturbance from the rustic ambiance. Initially, the men and women courteously get to know one another and learn about the members they are going to be sharing their common abode with for the time being.
After the introductions are out of the way, the participants are not allowed to sit idle as they are each handed some task to renovate the old house. Provided with individual limited allowances and a vegetable garden, the members of the house are left to their own devices to improve their temporary home, feed themselves and fall in love!
Love Village also includes its own version of elimination as there is a bell, termed ‘Bell of Love,’ that a participant is supposed to ring in the instance of them identifying the one they love. If their love is reciprocated, then the lucky couple may leave hand-in-hand, but if not, then the lone member is removed from the house empty-handed and replaced by a new entry.
Meanwhile, as the house is full of life and love, the hosts of the show, Atsushi Tamura and Becky, sit inside a studio to watch the activities in the Love Village as audience members and comment on the events happening in the house. Their interactions and commentary clear up the affairs of the house and provide the viewers of the dating show with more entertainment.
