Prime Video has dropped the official teaser trailer and first-look images for Elle, the upcoming prequel to the beloved Legally Blonde franchise. Set to premiere on July 1 across more than 240 countries and territories, the series takes audiences back to 1995 to explore the formative years of Elle Woods, long before she stepped into Harvard Law.

The announcement arrives just ahead of Prime Video’s upfront presentation, signaling strong confidence in the project. In fact, the series has already secured a second season renewal before its debut, a move that highlights the platform’s commitment to expanding the Legally Blonde universe.

Created by Laura Kittrell, Elle is designed as a coming-of-age story that blends humor, emotion, and character-driven storytelling. It focuses on a younger Elle steering the unpredictable high school era, where friendships, romance, and personal challenges shape the confident woman fans know today.

A Fresh Look at Elle Woods Before Harvard

The teaser trailer offers a look into a pivotal moment in Elle’s life. After celebrating her birthday in sunny Bel-Air, Elle’s world is turned upside down when her father announces a job change that forces the family to relocate to Seattle. This transition places Elle in a completely new environment, far removed from the glamorous lifestyle she is used to.

In this unfamiliar setting, Elle must adapt to new social dynamics, including tricky friendships and potential romantic complications. The series leans into the chaos of teenage life, showing how these experiences contribute to her growth. Rather than the polished law student audiences remember, this version of Elle is still figuring things out, making mistakes, and learning who she wants to be.

Despite these challenges, the teaser emphasizes that Elle’s defining traits, optimism, resilience, and determination, are already present. These qualities serve as the foundation for her journey, gradually shaping her into the character fans recognize from the original film.

One of the most significant aspects of Elle is its focus on family, particularly the relationship between Elle and her mother. Played by June Diane Raphael, Eva serves as a guiding force in Elle’s life, offering support and encouragement as she navigates difficult situations.

The series highlights how this bond becomes even stronger during times of change. As Elle faces new challenges in high school, her connection with her mother provides stability and reassurance. This dynamic adds emotional depth to the story, grounding it in relatable experiences.

Tom Everett Scott plays Wyatt, Elle’s father, whose career decision sets the plot in motion. His role underscores the impact of family choices on individual lives, showing how one decision can reshape an entire future. Together, these relationships form the emotional core of the series.

A Talented Cast Brings the Story to Life

Leading the cast is Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, taking on the challenge of portraying a younger version of a character made famous by Reese Witherspoon. Minetree’s performance is central to the series, as she must balance familiarity with a fresh interpretation that captures Elle’s early development.

The supporting cast includes Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz, all of whom contribute to the high school setting that defines much of the narrative. Their characters help create the social environment Elle must navigate, from friendships to rivalries.

The series also features a wide range of recurring actors, adding further depth to the story. This ensemble approach allows Elle to explore multiple perspectives, making the high school experience feel dynamic and authentic.

Elle is co-showrun by Laura Kittrell and Caroline Dries, both of whom bring experience in character-driven storytelling. The project is produced by Amazon MGM Studios in association with Hello Sunshine, the production company founded by Reese Witherspoon.

Executive producers include Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Amanda Brown, and Marc Platt, ensuring a strong creative foundation. Jason Moore directed the first two episodes, setting the tone for the series.

The show is also part of Prime Video’s “Obsession Is In Session” initiative, which celebrates young adult storytelling and fan culture. As part of this campaign, Elle will be featured at Obsessed Fest, an immersive fan event taking place on June 27 in Los Angeles. The event will include cast panels, exclusive content, and interactive experiences for fans.
