NHK recently announced the addition of eight new cast members for the live-action adaptation of Tomoko Boryoku’s “An Older Guy’s VR First Love” manga.
The newcomers to the cast include Reina Tanaka, Hinata Hiiragi, Kō Maehara, Neo Inoue, Keiko Horiuchi, Yoshihiko Hosoda, Hazuki Seto, and Yuzu Aoki.
Fans can catch the premiere of the series on NHK on April 1 at 10:45 p.m. JST. In the upcoming series, Toru Namaguchi takes on the role of protagonist Naoki Endo in real life, while Anna Kurasawa portrays his online persona.
Hiroe Igeta stars as Honami. The anime is directed by Teruyuki Yoshida, Tomohiro Kuwano, Shunsuke Nakamura, and Shinichiro Ishikawa, with scripts penned by Mash Morino and music composed by Takashi Watanabe.
The manga is published in English by Kodansha USA, with the first volume released in November 2022.
Originally serialized on Ichijinsha’s Zero-Sum Online website in 2020, the manga’s second volume was published in February 2023.
About An Older Guy’s VR First Love
The story revolves around Naoki, a forty-year-old temp worker who seeks refuge in the virtual world. In this digital world, Naoki transforms into a youthful girl and encounters his first love, the cheerful and beautiful Honami.
Real life proves disappointing for Naoki, but the virtual world offers him solace and connection, albeit with a limited time frame.
Despite this limitation, Naoki finds solace in his interactions with Honami. As he deals with the challenges of living a double life, Naoki gains important insights into love and human connection.
