Lightning Degree Chapter 156 was long compared to a long while as it served as a wind-up chapter. A lot of things happened in the last arc, and there was a lot to be resolved. This was also why the chapter felt short-paced, as we were dumped with a lot of info as well.
Ryu and his friend are under the scrutiny of someone higher than them, and their life might be at stake. However, that event was postponed by one of the higher-ups themselves as they thought it was too much trouble. They recognized the abilities of our protagonist but also accepted that he is an eccentric and that he couldn’t be bound and maybe shouldn’t be bound down.
There there was the comedic relief of the chapter where we got to see Ryu and his friend making sure to pay the visit to the head of the sect that made them a promise. The promise was not that he gave them, but he apologized for doubting their abilities in the first place.
