Synopsis
Joo-Ran (Kim Tae Hee), our protagonist, grew up in a rich family. She had the privilege of living a wealthy lifestyle and had now become a stay-at-home wife, married to Jae Ho (Kim Sung Oh), who is a successful and reputable doctor in his field. Enjoying a life of luxury, their house had a big garden Joo Ran loved. Joo Ran was content with her perfect life- her loving husband and beautiful house contributed to her ideal life.
However, she starts noticing a strange smell in her beloved garden, which makes her curious about where it’s coming from. The garden had never had a pungent smell before, and this made her cautious that something might have gone wrong. Joo Ran begins investigating and trying to find out the cause of the smell. As she starts her investigation, she eventually meets a woman named Sang Eun ( Lim Ji Yeon), who has a connection with her husband.
Sang Eun’s life was completely different from Joo-Ran, who had the comfort of having rich parents. Sang Eun grew up in a poor household with no proper means of enjoying life. Even now, after all these years of suffering, Sang Eun could not break out of poverty and still finds herself struggling with money, trying to make ends meet. She was now married and lived together with her husband, Yoon Beom (Choi Jae Rim), in a run-down apartment since that was all that they could afford.
Yoon Beom was working at a pharmaceutical company, and with their mediocre lifestyle, Yoon Beom often released his frustration on Sang Eun as he abused her with domestic violence. Sang Eun’s life was the extreme opposite of Joo Ran’s. She was miserable, hating her life and herself for marrying a man who beat her up. However, one day, she receives a call informing her that Yoon Beom has died.
What is the connection between these two women and their husbands? What caused the pungent smell to come from Joo Ran’s garden, and did Sang Eum’s husband happen to be a part of the cause?
