The first teaser for the upcoming LEGO ONE PIECE animated special has officially arrived, giving fans a fresh look at the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventures recreated entirely in LEGO form. Released by Netflix, the preview offers a glimpse of the two-part special that revisits the major events from the live-action ONE PIECE Seasons 1 and 2 with a playful new visual style.

Rather than telling an entirely new story, the special retells the crew’s journey across the East Blue and into the Grand Line through the eyes of Usopp, whose larger-than-life storytelling shapes the animated adventure.

The newly released teaser highlights familiar moments, vibrant LEGO recreations of iconic locations, and the arrival of Tony Tony Chopper as he learns about the Straw Hats’ past exploits. With its distinctive animation and humorous tone, the project aims to introduce newcomers to the franchise while offering longtime fans a different way to experience the story before it premieres exclusively on Netflix on September 29.

New LEGO ONE PIECE teaser previews a fresh take on the Straw Hats’ journey

The newly released trailer showcases the Straw Hat crew reimagined as LEGO minifigures while revisiting memorable moments from the first two seasons of Netflix’s live-action adaptation.

According to Netflix, the two-part animated special follows Usopp as he recounts the crew’s adventures to their newest companion, Tony Tony Chopper, blending familiar events with his famously exaggerated storytelling.

Showrunner, writer, and executive producer Tom Hyndman said the creative team wanted the project to be accessible to both new and longtime fans. Speaking to Netflix Tudum, he explained,

“We wanted to make something that would ease new viewers into the massive world of ONE PIECE while also giving longtime fans a new, fun perspective to see the iconic stories of the first two seasons.”

The production is being created through a partnership between the LEGO Group, Shueisha, and Vancouver-based animation studio Atomic Cartoons. Hyndman serves as showrunner, while ONE PIECE creator Eiichiro Oda is among the executive producers alongside representatives from LEGO and Tomorrow Studios.

Netflix has confirmed that the LEGO ONE PIECE animated special will premiere worldwide on September 29, bringing the Straw Hats’ live-action adventures back in a colorful brick-built format.
