New Zealand’s very own Lego game show, Lego Masters will be returning with a new episode this week. With the last episode’s challenge granting some of the players an advantage for the next build, we’ll be seeing the remaining contestants battle in a challenge that requires high levels of creativity.
Lego Masters NZ is a relatively new adaptation of the British game show format and has been airing since May 9th, 2022. It features similar concepts to its counterparts from other countries, but we do get to see the players competing through New Zealand-inspired builds. The original British format goes back to 2017. The presenter for the NZ version is Dai Henwood, while the judge is Robin Sather.
With the last season becoming a quick hit with the audiences, a new season was shortly ordered right after the first one ended on June 6th, 2022. It featured the contestants competing through challenges such as creating an emblem for a Cricket team, building bridges, suspensions, and various other intriguing projects. The winners of the last season were Glenn & Jake, who took home the $25,000 voucher and 2 cars.
Each episode usually begins with the host introducing the challenges and themes of the day. As soon as the timer begins, the teams will have to build a model according to the task given and the team that manages to build an amazing model out of the supplies given to them will win the challenge. They are also rewarded with a “Power Brick,” a golden Lego that would offer immunity to the team that uses it in a build.
Lego Masters New Zealand Season 2 Episode 4: Recap
The season started with the contestants assembling in the Lego Masters studio and being assigned their first task, building a whole movie set. The model had to be realistic and was supposed to represent a big-budget movie set. After the timer ran out, Robin Sather inspected each model and the final winner of the day was announced. The winner of the challenge is also given a Power Brick, which would save them from being eliminated whenever they use it in a model.
Next up were the complex challenges, that tested not only the creativity but also the technical skills of each group. The challenge consisted of making a model that had both machines and animals as subjects. This mix offered the contestants the chance to show their true Lego abilities to the judge and other groups. The next task involved creating a structure that should be placed inside a frame, to make it look like a three-dimensional piece of artwork.
While the winning team was moving forward without any worry, the ones that didn’t live up to the judge’s expectations were eliminated from the game. The 4th episode featured the teams gearing up for an interesting challenge, that had all of them using New Zealand’s traditional celebrations as the theme for their builds. While some chose to play it safe and created classic structures, some of the teams went all out and brought the celebrations right into their builds.
