NBC’s original science fiction drama La Brea recently returned to television for its second season as of Tuesday, September 27 this year, when the first episode from Season 2 dropped. It is officially entitled “The Next Day.” As of now, it is well into its new season, with five episodes from the same having already come out.
The fifth episode had aired only the week before on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, and in it, we saw Gavin, Eve, and the rest of the gang trying to seize a truckload of black rock in order to break into the mysterious building in the hopes of bringing Riley and Josh home. In the course of it, they encountered Virgil, an escaped prisoner who had warned them that the number of guards at the structure had increased.
The group, however, was undaunted by this intel and carried on with their hike to the mine. On their recon, when they spotted a wagon of the rocks getting readied for transport as well as the band of inmates meant to be transferred to another equally harrowing facility, the gang split into two teams — Gavin, Eve, Izzy, and Sam responsible for stealing the wagon, and Levi, Lucas, and Scott were to liberate the prisoners.
In their quest to break into the facility, Sam, Gavin, Izzy, and Eve stumbled into snares crawling with softball-sized spiders, much to Izzy’s horror, crouched through a feeble wall right into the mine tunnels, knocked out a few guards there, and took their uniforms before rushing outside to surprisingly board the wagon carrying the black rock and driving past Taamet, a guard.

Apparently, the reluctant guard did not think anything amiss after seeing the vivid blue eyes and soot-deprived faces of Izzy and Eve. However, the apprehended guards were quick to correct his mistake, raising the alarm following, which was an epic cat-and-mouse chase. Even though Gavin and the gang strategized well and had almost gained the upper hand on the bad guys, but were in no way a match for specially trained guards who turned the fight around.
But that was until Levi arrived right on time, along with Paara and her people. It was after this that the episode threw a curveball. We learned that the guard Taamet was actually Paara’s assumed dead husband when the former abstained from shooting him down with an arrow after seeing his face. Years ago, Taamet had led a mutiny at the fort where he, along with his group, was shunned.
Meanwhile, Scott and Lucas took it upon themselves to cause a diversion and distract the guards so they could liberate the inmates. Subsequently, they took a torch to the raft, which was meant to be utilized for transport.
It'd be hilarious if Scott chucking his vape pen somehow drastically altered the future. #LaBrea

Elsewhere on the topside, Caroline, aka Dr. Clark, revealed to Riley and Josh that Gavin, i.e., Isaiah was not from 10,000 BC, to begin with, but was, in fact, from the future. Although she refrained from specifying the year, we are certain that it is quite beyond 2022. Now in 1988, Caroline expresses that she wants to go see her little son, but Josh requests her not to so that his adoption can play out. Otherwise, Isaiah won’t grow up to be Gavin Harris, and thus Josh will never have existed. Caroline seems to be moved and agrees to meet with Josh and Riley at the university later.
Did Josh and Riley seriously not notice that Grandma was acting super shady?! #LaBrea

However, when she fails to show up, and they end up finding her at Child Protective Services, talking to little Isaiah, Riley and Josh must stop Caroline before she alters the timeline. Episode 5 from Season 2 of La Brea is titled “The Heist.”
La Brea Season 2 Episode 6 Preview
The episode, which is due to come out this week, would be the sixth from the latest season of the sci-fi thriller. In the episode, we will see Gavin’s plans to sneak into the facility go all wrong, only for him to come face-to-face with the mysterious leader of the same. Meanwhile, Izzy, Eve, Sam, and Levi have to begrudgingly depend on a former rival in order to carry out a rescue mission.
On the topside, however, Riley and Josh get to have some much-needed fun before a curveball is thrown their way. Episode 6 from La Brea Season 2 is dubbed “Lazarus” after the building which had mysteriously just appeared out of nowhere after the gang’s stint at the black rock facility in the world down under.
La Brea Season 2 Plot
The plot of this imaginative primetime drama follows the aftermath of a giant sinkhole opening up the jam in the middle of Los Angeles, USA, which tears apart the Harris family, who comprise the main characters of the series.
The mother and son end up in primeval land along with a group of strangers who are trying to figure out where exactly they are and how to get back home to their loved ones, just as the former is. Left above on the topside is a daughter who struggles to survive this calamity and the father whose visions and dark past render him unlikely to be able to unravel the mystery.
However, when he realizes that his hallucinations might actually be the key to being reunited with their family once again, the only thing the Harris family is left to tackle is time. Season 2 of this thriller sees the Harris family continuing to be apart while Eve is still trying to cope with her son, Josh, walking through a portal to 1988 by mistake.
Meanwhile, she is unaware that her daughter Izzy and estranged husband Gavin had ended up in prehistoric Seattle, where they must face the elements and the animals to get back to Los Angeles.
