La Brea episode 5 seems to pile on the existing mysteries even more by introducing some new questions. The official synopsis suggests that we’ll not be getting answers to the most pressing questions any time soon. So far, the survivors have dealt with the perilous landscape they have all fallen onto. There is treacherous biodiversity, the harsh environment, and the bigger mystery surrounding it all. Episode 4 presented the survivors and the audience with a new mystery. The handprint logo keeps recurring in the TV show, and we don’t know what it represents. After the previous episode, we know that it connects to the fort the search party has stumbled upon.
We might get an explanation for the logo, the anonymous old man, and this new settlement. However, it’s very possible that we may not get any answers at all. Such is the nature of mystery dramas. They tend to introduce another ambiguity before providing closure to one. We’ll have to wait for the next episode or two to see if the trend continues to repeat or not. Let’s now delve into all that episode 5 of La Brea season 1 will entail. Spoilers ahead!
Episode 4 opened with Lucas finding out that his heroin stash is missing. Eve talks with Sam about her and Gavin’s separation. That’s when they are abruptly distracted by thunderous activity in the sky. Everyone witnesses what seems like an aircraft come crashing down. The following morning, Eve forms a search party along with Josh, Riley, Lucas, and Scott. Meanwhile, it finally dawns upon Scott that the heroine stash belongs to Lucas. He tells Josh this later on. They eventually find a parachute stuck in trees, and soon enough, a man appears. This man is none other than Levi. In shock and disbelief, Eve goes and hugs Levi. The search party then goes along with Levi to look for his aircraft. They eventually find it too. However, they also discover that one of the engines has exploded.
This is when the party makes another interesting discovery. On the plane’s radar, they find something about five miles south from where they are. So they all decide to set camp for the night and head for the place the next day. Meanwhile, Lucas learns that it was Scott who took his heroine. Cut to Eve and Levi, and the latter tells Eve that Gavin knows about their affair. The next morning, they all head to the location the radar was pointing towards. Upon arrival, they witness a primitive village. However, there’s an important caveat: this village doesn’t belong to the prehistoric era. How could it? It’s difficult to conceive of a primitive human population at that time, much less one that dwells inside homes.
Mysterious Fort and Handprint Logo
So who could these primitives be? The best and most likely scenario right now can be that these people crashed into the zone previously. Meanwhile, the other survivors back at the camp deal with a new mystery. Some anonymous attacker assaults one of the survivors. The assault inflicts the victim with some strange veiny marks all over his body. When Sam examines the marks, he claims that they’re a result of electrocution. The young girl Lily was a witness to what transpired. Thankfully, she finally opens her mouth and tells them that the assaulter was an old man. She also reveals to them that there was a handprint on his back. Cut to the search party, and they enter this village they’ve found.
As they enter the village, they see the same handprint logo painted on the entrance. Back on top, Gavin has a vision about Levi and Eve’s meeting. He goes to Dr. Nathan to inform him about the successful landing. However, Agent Markman tells him that Dr. Nathan has taken a day off. Gavin and Izzy then try and find a way to reach Dr. Nathan. Through a photograph of Dr. Nathan and someone called Dr. Albridge, they search where they are. Gavin eventually finds Albridgr and Nathan. However, upon meeting them, he learns that there’s another plane they have. This one has been subjected to some modifications which would make it immune to the previous one’s failures. The episode ends with them telling Gavin that they want him to pilot this plane.
La Brea Episode 5 Release Date & Preview
La Brea episode 5 will release on October 26, 2021. The episode will see the search party led by Eve exploring more of the settlement they discovered. They will explore a mysterious fort that will raise more questions than answers. We might also learn more about the recurring mystery handprint logo. Who are the dwellers that live inside this fort? What is this whole settlement? Are they prehistoric people? Or has another bunch of people fallen victim to the abyss previously. As far as the synopsis goes, it seems the mysteries will keep multiplying. Let’s hope it doesn’t go the route of bombarding the story with mystery after mystery without providing some cohesion.
Anyway, we will also continue seeing Gavin and Izzy’s efforts to save their loved ones. After the previous episode, Gavin has stumbled upon an unlikely ally. He must now embark on a dangerous mission to save his family. Not to mention that their efforts go against the government’s authorizations and protocols. The government has issued several warnings, and there’s also the risk of earthquakes when anyone plummets into the hole. Despite all of that, Gavin and Izzy will be taking all the risks they can to save their family.
