In the latest installment of Kagurabachi, Chapter 23 hit the shelves of Weekly Shonen Jump #14 on March 4, 2024, making its debut at midnight JST. This chapter shook things up by revealing the surprising whereabouts of the Rakuzaichi auction’s storage facility.
What’s more, it introduced fresh adversaries for our heroes, Chihiro Rokuhira and Shiba.
In the preceding chapter, Hakuri let slip that he had knowledge of the storage site for the Rakuzaichi auction’s treasures but was clueless about its exact location.
Adding to the intrigue, it was revealed that the Kamunabi faction is keen on acquiring the Shinuchi blade from the auction through bidding.
To top it off, the previous chapter concluded with Chihiro and Shiba embarking on a daring mission to infiltrate the Sazanami mansion, aiming to confront Kyora and extract information about the whereabouts of Shinuchi.
Revelations and Tensions Revealed in Kagurabachi Chapter 23
Chapter 23 of Kagurabachi, titled “Storehouse,” kicks off with an intriguing exchange between Kyora Sazanami and Chihiro. Kyora challenges Chihiro, questioning whether he would depart if Shinuchi’s location were revealed. Despite activating his sorcery, Kyora clarifies that he isn’t adopting a defensive stance.
When Chihiro presses for information about Shinuchi, Kyora deflects the question and instead expresses curiosity about the seventh Sacred Blade.
Notably, this chapter reveals Kyora’s awareness of Chihiro’s true identity as Kunishige Rokuhira’s son.
Shiba grows suspicious, contemplating the possibility of a leak from the Kamunabi, and is unsettled by Kyora’s composed demeanor.
In a flashback, Hakuri warns Chihiro and Shiba about the formidable force known as the “Tou” within the Sazanami mansion.
Hakuri describes Tou as the elite quartet among the Sazanami clan’s fifty sorcerers, tasked with safeguarding Kyora Sazanami.
Returning to the present, Shiba notes the absence of any indication that Kyora has summoned the Tou, adding to the chapter’s tension and anticipation.
As Chihiro persistently probes about the Shinuchi, Kyora offers a tantalizing suggestion: if Chihiro truly desires the sword, he should participate in the auction. Suddenly, an unexpected event startles both Chihiro and Shiba.
In a surreal moment, Chihiro perceives the Shinuchi katana within reach, but Kyora clarifies that it’s merely a projection—a mirage conjured by his sorcery powers.
Chapter 23 of Kagurabachi unveils a startling revelation: the Rakuzaichi auction’s storehouse resides within Kyora Sazanami himself. This pocket dimension, crafted through sorcery, has been an inherited ability among the heads of the Sazanami clan.
Exclusive authority over the storage rests solely with Kyora Sazanami, meaning only those bearing his bloodline can access it. Moreover, should Kyora perish, the storehouse and its contents would vanish with him.
To further provoke Chihiro, Kyora showcases images of the storehouse, including prisoners held within. This flashback emphasizes the auction’s grim reality.
Shiba deduces that Kyora’s revelation is a desperate move, acknowledging his inferiority against a Sacred Blade user. Furthermore, Kyora’s power renders him untouchable, as he could obliterate the storehouse at will.
Though tempted to challenge Kyora’s bluff, Shiba realizes the dire consequences and suggests retreat. However, their plans are interrupted by the arrival of three formidable guards.
