The 44-year-old actress announced on December 30 via Instagram that she’s collaborating with Tommy Marcus, known online as Quentin Quarantino, to spotlight one health-related GoFundMe campaign each week. This partnership aims to bring financial relief to families burdened by exorbitant medical expenses.
Bell and Marcus, who together have an audience of nearly 17 million, encouraged their followers to review their posts carefully. They shared screenshots of their conversations, where Marcus pitched the idea of creating a movement to address the inadequacies of the healthcare system.
“I had this idea to channel public energy around healthcare issues by featuring one GoFundMe daily for a week,” Marcus wrote to Bell. He explained he often receives heartbreaking stories of families in desperate need and asked if she’d join the effort.
Bell immediately agreed, replying with enthusiasm, “Love it.”
The duo’s exchange included messages where Bell offered to personally donate to close funding gaps for shared campaigns. She asked Marcus, “How can I give $100,000 to people who need it for medical bills? Let’s ensure we do it in the best way possible.” Marcus suggested splitting the amount between crowdfunding and her donation, a plan Bell excitedly approved.
Marcus shared his excitement in an Instagram caption, calling the effort potentially “some of the most impactful work we’ve ever done.” He urged followers to spread the word by donating, sharing, and engaging with their posts to maximize the initiative’s reach.
Recently, the pair raised $25,000 through a GoFundMe for a young leukemia patient, 3rd grader Mila. Bell matched the donation, doubling the total to $50,000. Marcus shared the milestone, revealing the goal was met in just 20 minutes.
Although he acknowledged the unfortunate need for such efforts, Marcus emphasized their importance. “This is the system we’re working with,” he wrote, “and while we can’t change policy overnight, we can change lives now.”
This effort is the latest in Bell’s long-standing commitment to charitable work. She has served as a Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund global advocate since 2018, supporting women-led initiatives in conflict zones.
Additionally, Bell has supported organizations like Baby2Baby, No Kid Hungry, and Mercy For Animals, using her platform to uplift those in need.
