Kotaro Lives Alone has released a New PV, Official Trailer recently, and a new key visual earlier this year for the upcoming anime. LIDEN FILMS is going to produce this anime adaptation. The original manga series written by Mami Tsumura is currently published in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior magazine. It has sold over 1.4 million copies and eight standalone volumes of hardcopy. The manga series was also adapted into a live-action television drama with 10 episodes, and it aired on TV Asahi from April 24th, 2021, to June 26th, 2021.
The story is about a little boy. He stands at the door of a mangaka. He hands over a nicely packed box of tissues as a housewarming gift and introduces himself, “My name is Satou, and I’ve moved into number 203 recently. It was nice to meet you.” The boy is just a 4-year-old child, and his name is Satou Kotaro. He has just moved into Shimizu Apartments, surprisingly to live by himself.
He is creative sensible, yet just a small child who goes shopping alone with a toy sword strapped to his side. He’s both mature and childish at the same time. Kotaro begins to influence the people around him with his cool ways. This is the story of a small boy who is determined to live strongly until the day he can live with his parents.

Kotaro Lives Alone: New PV, Official Trailer
A teaser trailer and initial visual were released from Netflix back in November 2021, and the key visual came along in January 2022. The new PV/Official Trailer has just been released today by the Netflix Asia Youtube channel. The teaser trailer just provided a vague idea about the anime, but the trailer definitely gives a really good preview of what’s about to happen. Unpopular mangaka Shin Karino lives alone, but his life gets a lot busier when his five-year-old neighbor Kotaro starts spending time with him.
‘Kotaro Lives Alone’ or ‘Kotaro wa Hitorigurashi’s’ story revolves around a small 4-year-old Kotaro Satou who moves into the next flat to Shin Karino, who is an unsuccessful manga artist. Kotaro lives alone, and he even has a job financially support himself. He does not have parents or any other family member who seems to be checking on him. Kotaro is actually doing much better at managing his life compared to any adult, especially his adult neighbors whose lives are pretty messed up. He moves into that apartment building and begins to live in apartment 203.

What is ‘Kotaro Lives Alone’ About?
Shin Karino is an unpopular manga artist who lives alone, but his life gets interesting when his four-year-old neighbor Kotaro starts to spend time with him. The arrival of Kotaro completely changes the living status of the five other tenants at the apartment complex. Before this, they didn’t know who their next-door neighbors were, and they didn’t interact with each other. Karino, the mangaka, is a slacker whose room is dirty, and he has recently been dumped by his girlfriend because he was sleeping on the bed while she was waiting for him for their planned date.
While Karino is talented enough to win a manga contest, he seems too lazy, procrastinating, and unmotivated to take advantage of that beginning success. Now, he keeps struggling to finish his new manga and meet the deadlines set by his publisher. At first, he is quite curious to find out why a four-year-old boy is living alone and where his parents and family are. Kotaro is the first neighbor who has interacted with him. This is because the boy goes to each flat of the apartment and knocks on each door to give them a housewarming gift since he has just moved in.
Gradually, Kotaro motivates Karino to do better in life, though the adult doesn’t want to admit it to himself or to Kotaro. He starts by tidying his room, slowly recovering from his breakup slump. He takes out the trash when Kotaro innocently asked him why the room was so dirty. While Kotaro, the small boy, insists on being independent, Karino worries about the little boy while he walks alone to places. He willingly accompanies Kotaro to the bathhouse, to take baths, to the market to buy stuff, and to school as well. From being a self-centered and irresponsible person, Kotaro begins to be more responsible. Earlier, he used to live as if he were a kid or a teenager, but now Karino begins acting like an adult. Kotaro Lives alone also has a live-action TV drama of 10 episodes that was released in 2021.
