When on a case in Las Vegas, undercover detective with the Los Angeles Police Department Michael Knight (born Michael Arthur Long) is shot in the face and narrowly escapes death, played by David Hasselhoff. Long’s life is saved, and his face is rebuilt under the direction of Wilton Knight, the founder of FLAG and Knight Industries.
Long is given access to cutting-edge crime-fighting tools with his new identity as “Michael Knight,” most notably the car known as KITT. Knight Rider Filming Locations
In the United States, Knight Rider was filmed in Burbank, Beverly Hills, Stockton, Santa Clarita, and Los Angeles. At Universal Studios in Universal City, there was also filming. In Season 1, Greystone Mansion served as Devon’s administrative center.
In addition to 22255 Eucalyptus Avenue in Burbank, Courthouse Square, Colonial St., Covina, Denver St., Canoga Park, Devon’s Headquarters (Season 2) in Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Clarita, Greystone Mansion in North Hollywood, Stockton, and Universal Studios Hollywood, these locations also served as the backdrop for Knight Rider filming.
Plot Of The Show
After receiving a nearly fatal shot to the face, police Detective Lieutenant Michael Arthur Long is saved by self-made billionaire Wilton Knight, who also gives him a new name, Michael Knight, and a new identity (through plastic surgery).
Michael is chosen by Wilton to be the main field agent in the FLAG (Foundation for Law and Government) experimental program for public justice. The Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT), the other part of this experimental program, is a substantially modified Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that has undergone significant technological advancement.
It has several features, including an incredibly robust shell and frame, and it is controlled by an artificial intelligence-enhanced computer. When “direct action might provide the only practical solution,” Michael and KITT are called in. Devon Miles, who is in charge of FLAG, gives Michael instructions and direction.
A customized 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that cost $100,000 to manufacture (about $303,000 in 2022) was used as KITT in the television series. Design consultant Michael Scheffe created the car’s nose and console.
The voice of KITT or the Knight Industries Two Thousand is given by William Daniels. This is an autonomous and AI car, and it goes with Michael Knight, who is the partner of this car. Daniel was also seen in Saint elsewhere, and he requested that he should not be given credit for the role of his voice given for KITT.
The leader of the FLAG is Devon Miles, whose role has been played by Edward Mulhare. He was seen in every episode of the show and was responsible for giving the mission details to the team Knight and KIIT. Other than that role, he is also seen as a spokesman for FLAG whenever they are seen in trouble.
The chief technician and the romantic tension who works for Michael is Dr. Bonnie Barstow her role is played by Patricia McPherson, and she was present in seasons 1, 3, and 4. Due to some reasons, her character was removed after the first season, but she had an immense fan base that wanted her back, so then the makers brought her back in the third season, and she was there for the end.
The head technician for KITT in Season 2 is played by Rebecca Holden as April Curtis. When Patricia McPherson got back, the character was deleted. No installment ever established the relationship between the two.
