Kingdom Hearts 4 has officially been confirmed for a late 2027 release, giving fans a clearer window for the long-awaited next entry in Square Enix and Disney’s crossover RPG series. The game received a new trailer during the 2026 D23 showcase, where it was also revealed that Pixar’s Coco will be featured as one of its worlds.
The new trailer provides another look at the upcoming adventure while confirming that Kingdom Hearts 4 will launch across multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will release alongside the game’s other planned platforms rather than arriving later.
Kingdom Hearts Expands Beyond Video Games With New Disney+ Anime
The D23 showcase also revealed Kingdom Hearts: The Series, an original anime adaptation inspired by the video game franchise. The series is planned for Disney+, giving the long-running property a new format beyond its games.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said the franchise has
“captivated gamers everywhere with its unique blend of adventure and imagination.”
She added that the new series will bring the world fans have explored through the games to television while maintaining its connection to the original vision.
Series creator Tetsuya Nomura is also involved with the anime project. According to the announcement, the show is intended to expand the Kingdom Hearts universe while continuing to celebrate its established characters.
With Kingdom Hearts 4 now targeting late 2027 and the anime series in development for Disney+, the franchise is preparing for one of its biggest expansions yet. The inclusion of Coco also gives fans a new Pixar world to look forward to when the next game finally arrives.
