‘Kingdom’ is a manga that follows the Shang Gu era, a legendary era long ago when the world of humans and gods separated during ancient times. Since then, thousands and tens of thousands of moments have passed. The age of saints had ended. Human ambition was unleashed.
It was the great age of war lasting 500 years, “The spring and autumn warring states period”. 245 B.C.E. A kingdom in western China, ‘Qin’. The people told to their masters that they’d leave being treated like servants by the shitty Li Dian and build their own houses.
They decided to take some beautiful girls from distinguished families as brides, have lots of kids, and even more servants. They wanted their names to echo all across China. They aimed to become the most powerful great generals under the heavens.
And that was when Piao was chosen to be serving at the Royal Palace. Piao would be getting paid for his freedom. Starting the next day, he was asked to come to work. Xin wasn’t allowed to go along, so it was Piao alone.
Though Piao has the chance to change his life completely, he hesitates. A servant in a country village suddenly was being an officer in the Royal Palace! Stories like that don’t even happen in dreams, yet he was hesitant.
Now that Piao has to leave for the Capital, they decide to hold one last match between the two of two rounds. And after Piao leaves, Xin is determined to follow in his steps and enter into the blood-soaked history of China.
Previously on Kingdom Chapter 762: Recap
We saw that in ‘Kingdom’ Chapter 762, Kan Oishi traveled to the Kingdom of Qin, where he was grandly received. It was expected that, upon Kan Pishi’s arrival, a seat in the inner court would be immediately prepared.
The seat was for him to work tirelessly alongside Ri Shi to amend and strengthen the laws of Qin and thus bring Qin’s strength to a whole new level. However, it was written in the records of the grand historian that this did not happen.
The records said that if they intended to lead the people of China by that philosophy, then the nation would immediately fall. The record seemed unable to accept the answer that man’s true nature is that of light.
Kan Pishi was somewhat forcibly brought to Kanyou against his will. If he grew accustomed to life there, perhaps the discussions could progress from a place of greater mutual understanding.
Whatever the case may be, Kan Pishi received far greater marks than Ri Shi during their time with Junshi. Kan Pishi had to be made a central figure. The decision was made, and Ri Shi was told that he would be working together with Kan Pishi to research new laws.
The next scene was at Inner Kanyou, the residence allocated to Kan Pishi’s entourage. Kan Pishi was an ordinary man, to be honest; an extremely ordinary legalist. He had none of the intensity from when Ri Shi had known him before. Though he spoke facts, something was always lacking.
Shou Bunkun, Shou Heikun, and Ri Shi were all fighting with their full strength to realize their king’s dream because all of them believed in their king. They believed that Kani Pishi would deliver them a positive element they were missing, but as things are now, that doesn’t happen.
If Kan Pishi and their cores were simply different, then they could use that conflict to bring about something good. But according to their king, it seems like that is not the case. It was all a mystery.
