European dramas are always fun and interesting to watch; in the case of the Irish network RTE, they’re really doing an amazing job creating national productions of high value worthy of praise worldwide because of their narratives, talented actors, scriptwriters, and production crew. And that brings us to the case of Kin, a crime drama on the final stretch of its sophomore season starring Aiden Gillen (from Game of Thrones), Clare Dunne, and Ciarán Hinds.
Kin revolves around Irish gangsters and their crime wars as they seek to take each other’s territory no matter the cost. Developed by Ciaran Donnelly and Peter McKenna, the series debuted back in November 2020, was renewed, and eventually made its way to the small screens outside the confines of Ireland via AMC’s streaming platform AMC+ with great reception. As the final episode of the sophomore season is right around the corner, it’s the right moment to put this show under the microscope.
Kin Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
The episode begins in the holding cell where they’re keeping Eric. Donal steps in and tells Eric that the cops are going present murder charges and advises Eric to keep his mouth shut and let him talk on his behalf. We cut to Eamon as he’s on his psychedelic mushrooms trip, tripping it out without much intel as to what he’s doing next.
After that, Amanda lets Anthony know about the cops busting the car dealership and Dotser’s death. Later on, Amanda meets a lawyer at the car dealership and lets him know that she’s looking for an attorney with no bad reputation for defending thugs. Birdy, Jimmy, and Frank waited for Amanda at home, and she told them about the dealership. So with that, Frank tells everyone that the fight is against Eamon now.
Power Void
After that request, the show turns to Con and Glen beating up some of Kinsella’s flunkies, hoping to get information as to where the drugs are. Then, Nikki visits Eric in the can; Donal tells her not to touch Eric because the hacks are recording everything. Nikki lets Eric know about Amanda. Eric is then moved to another prison.
On the Jimmy and Frank front, there are fights, banter, and leadership questioning as Frank considers that Eric isn’t coming back from the can and Bren doesn’t know who to put in charge, setting things up for a power void ahead of the season’s finale. Meanwhile, Anthony and Amanda learn after they arrive home after doing some business that their kids are in peril, so Amanda decides to set things up to kill Eamon to avoid putting her kids in harm’s way.
