The family of late actress Kim Sae Ron has officially filed a defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, accusing him of spreading false and damaging information about her personal life.
On March 17, lawyer Bu Ji Seok from the law firm Buyou announced that they would submit the complaint to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency after holding a press conference to explain the details of the case.
Controversial Claims and Backlash
Following Kim Sae Ron’s passing last month, Lee Jin Ho made several allegations about her personal life through his YouTube videos, including claims that she:
- Held drinking parties with friends during her self-reflection period
- Created self-made dating rumors
- Spread voluntary marriage rumors
- After her death, Lee Jin Ho set his videos to private, citing a desire to give her a chance, but Kim Sae Ron’s family strongly refuted his claims.

Family’s Response
On March 16, Kim Sae Ron’s family issued a statement condemning Lee Jin Ho’s actions, stating:
- He mocked photos they posted when they couldn’t contact her, dismissing them as “self-made dating photos.”
- He falsely claimed that she lacked normal emotional understanding due to growing up in the entertainment industry.
- He denied the existence of her family members, who are very much present.
- He alleged that she mistreated staff and used vulgar language, despite many staff members attending her funeral.
Her family also criticized his defense, questioning,
“Which of the things you said are factually correct? Do you think your own family and children believe you did this out of concern for Sae Ron?”
Ongoing Fallout
Kim Sae Ron’s former agency, Gold Medalist, did not attend her funeral, adding to the controversy surrounding her passing. Meanwhile, netizens continue to debate and discuss the allegations and lawsuit online.
With the legal complaint now officially submitted, attention is on how the investigation will unfold and whether Lee Jin Ho will face legal consequences for his claims.
