Season 2 of the dark Welsh crime drama Keeping Faith is most probably getting renewed for the second season if a voiceover in the finale is to be believed. Season 1 concluded yesterday with many cliff-hangers. A voiceover in the finale itself assured the audience that a second series is in development.
The show revolves around Faith Howells who is a Lawyer, wife and a mother and how her world is turned upside down when her husband and business partner, Evan vanishes without a trace. It takes her on a journey, where she begins questioning if she ever truly knew her husband as secrets begin to unravel in this dark Welsh noir.
Keeping Faith Season 2 – Update
The finale ended in a cliff-hanger when her husband suddenly appears out of nowhere to take custody of children, while Faith was busy in her lover’s arms. She spent much of the first season to get her daughter Alys back only to lose them again to her husband whose agenda as of yet in unknown.
Eva Myles stars as the lead Faith Howells. The cast also includes Hannah Daniel, Matthew Gravelle, Bradley Freegard, Mark Lewis Jones, Aneirin Hughes, Mali Harries.
The show became an instant hit with the Welsh audiences. The show has also been downloaded more than 8 million times since it became available on BBC Iplayer. Renewing the show is a no-brainer. It is BBC Wales most successful non-network drama in many decades. The show opened to critical acclaim.
Eva Myles in an interview on BBC Breakfast claimed that Mathew Hall is writing the scripts for the second series. But the interview itself ended in a cliffhanger when she said that “Nothing’s been greenlit yet, we don’t know if it’s happening again.” BBC Wales announced way back in April that works on a second series is underway.
Also, BBC’S head of commissioning Nick Andrews had this to say: “This series has been a real gem from start to finish – and it’s a testament to the strength of drama coming out of Wales right now.
“Eve Myles has been utterly brilliant, and I know she’d be the first to say she was supported by a remarkable cast and the terrific production team at Vox. Series two development is underway, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
Season 2 is promising a lot of answers, and it is exciting for the fans to get all the answers to questions whose build-up was seen in season 1.
The show airs on BBC One. It can also be downloaded from BBC Iplayer. Further details about season 2 as of yet are unavailable but rest assured, the moment they are available, yours truly will get them to you!
