KCSI: Smoking Gun Episode 3: Recap
Previously on KCSI: Smoking Gun was about the murder of a twin brother on March 6, 2011. The case was about the mysterious death of a three-year-old child in his house in Sillim-Dong, Seoul. According to the autopsy report, the child’s body suffered three broken ribs. The bruises and heavy purple wounds from physical abuse covered the entire body.
After the reports were out, both parents said they never abused children. The case took a new turn when the mother confessed after five days. She named her husband, claiming to be beating her and her children when drunk. The father got arrested on charges of physical abuse and child homicide. He received a 12-year prison term after being found guilty in the first trial.
The father filed for another appeal at the court. He wrote a handwritten letter explaining his innocence and why will he try to kill his child so brutally. There were many trials for the case. The court judged the father to be innocent based on fresh testimony and pieces of evidence.
There was something suspicious in the statement given by the mother. The case keeps getting more unexplainable. The investigation exposed many hidden details related to the mother. The description of the day of the murder through the mother didn’t correspond entirely to the neighbours’ statement. The neighbours mentioned seeing the mother was violent toward her younger child, who is dead now. The child would have scratch marks or bruises on the head, and she would justify as twins were playing and he fell and got hurt.
Due to the lack of a suspect to punish, the case of The Murder of a Twin Brother was declared closed.
