On January 31 KST, a production presentation for the JTBC drama ‘Queen of Divorce’ took place in Seoul. ‘Queen of Divorce’ narrates the journey of Korea’s premier divorce solver, providing a remedy to rectify a ‘bad spouse’ situation by terminating the client’s troubled marriage.
Assuming his inaugural leading role in ‘Queen of Divorce,’ Kang Ki Young expresses excitement and acknowledges the pressure, stating, “I feel a lot of pressure as I take on my first male lead role. I’m curious and excited to see how people will perceive it.”
Reflecting on the experience, Kang Ki Young acknowledged relying on senior actress and main lead Lee Ji Ah for support. He humorously shared, “I once said that it always felt like there were four feet on a square table, but this time it felt like there were only two. It was challenging to maintain my balance. If you ask me if I enjoyed it, I’d say, ‘I wanted to enjoy it,’ with a bit of nervousness.”
He continued, “Initially, I was quite nervous, but Lee Ji Ah encouraged me to approach the role with excitement. After that, I was able to watch her performance comfortably. She’s an amazing senior actress.”
In a discussion about their on-screen chemistry, Kang Ki Young disclosed, “At first, we were a bit shy, but as we grew closer and shared romantic scenes, our bond deepened quickly. I’d rate our chemistry as a 9.5 out of 10.” Playfully, Lee Ji Ah inquired, “Why did you deduct 0.5 points?”
Lee Ji Ah expressed satisfaction with the drama’s comedic aspects and mentioned her spontaneous ad-libs during filming. She shared, “This drama has a comical side, and I had a lot of fun with Kang Ki Young. There were times when I spontaneously ad-libbed without informing the director, and it was enjoyable.”
Kang Ki Young added, “I didn’t initially expect her to have such a comedic side. She contributed some cool ad-libs and suggestions, resulting in many entertaining scenes.”
