The official website for Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- announced on Wednesday that the anime will return for a second season in fall 2025, revealing a teaser visual to mark the occasion. Additionally, Tsugaru Toba, the artist for the 2023 manga adaptation of the novels, illustrated to celebrate the announcement of the second season.
The first season of the anime premiered in April 2018, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it aired in Japan and Funimation providing an English dub. Funimation also released the anime on home video in 2019.
Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- follows the story of Aoi, a college student who inherits the ability to see spirits from her late grandfather. After encountering a god and the master of the Tenjin-ya inn, she is taken away and informed that she must become his bride to settle her grandfather’s debts. Aoi refuses and decides to work at the Tenjin-ya to repay the debt.
The novel series by Midori Yūma began serialization in Kadokawa’s Fujimi L Bunko imprint in 2015, with the 12th volume released in March 2022. Toba launched a new manga adaptation of the novels in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in January 2023, with the fourth volume released on March 8.
Additionally, there is an ongoing manga adaptation by Waco Ioka, which started serialization in Kadokawa’s B’s-LOG COMIC magazine in April 2016.
