There are many manga whose source material seems to be their light novels. There is one such manga whose source material is a light novel, and there have been various manga adaptations of it.
That manga is none other than Sugar Apple Fairy Tale. This particular series was originally a light novel by Miri Mikawa, which first got its manga adaptation in November 2012 by Alto Yukimura. The second manga adaptation was done by Yozora No Udon in 2021. This manga adaptation is licensed by Yen Press in North America.
The Yozora No Udon adaptation is ongoing, but some fans are aware of the ending due to reading the light novels or earlier adaptations. In addition to having two manga adaptations, Sugar Apple Fairy Tale has an anime adaptation as well. The anime aired from January 2023 to September 2023 and had 12 episodes. J.C. Staff produced it.
The anime adaptation of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale was done in two halves, with the first airing from January to March and the second part airing from July to September. The anime has both Japanese as well as English dubs. Each part had 12 episodes, bringing the total to 24.
For the people who are reading the recent adaptation of the light novel, there seems to be big news regarding the manga and its tenure
About Sugar Apple Fairy Tale
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale has the sweetest name, and, as it seems, the sweetest plot as well. Anne Halford, the main character, is a candy crafter. Anne’s mother used to be a Silver Sugar Master and Anne dreams of following her and becoming a Silver Sugar Master herself. Her biggest obstacle, however, seems to be the title itself, as it can only be bestowed by royalty. Therefore, in order to gain that title, Anne travels to the Royal Candy Fair.
There, she purchases Challe, a fairy. Where Anne resides, fairies are treated as slaves, and human beings purchase them to do their bidding. This entails that the fairies don’t consider the humans their best buddies, but Challe, in particular, has a great disliking for the humans.
Anne isn’t like the others and doesn’t consider fairies to be beneath humans. She truly wishes to forge a bond of friendship with Challe, but he seems adamant about doing the exact opposite. However, as time progresses and Challe truly understands Anne, a bond deeper than that of friendship is formed between the two.
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale Manga Ending in December 2023
Challe is supposed to protect Anne on her adventures and her journey to becoming the Silver Sugar Master. The light novel began in 2010 and was ultimately finished in 2015. The manga adaptation done by Yozora No Udon began in 2021, and according to an announcement in Kadokawa’s Young Ace, the final chapter is supposed to be released on December 4, 2023.
This would be the next chapter that is to be released, and fans can expect to see the end of a year-long journey filled with various emotions. As mentioned above, whilst fans enjoyed the anime, the manga seemed to put a spell on them, and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yen Press has been responsible for airing the new chapters of the manga, and they are trying to release both the English and Japanese versions, but they seem a little behind on the English Version.
Fans should be prepared to bid adieu to their favorite characters and the bonds they all share. Whilst this news will inevitably sadden fans of the show, many are also excited to finally see the conclusion to Anne’s quest and her bond with Challe after a year of waiting.
The news of the next chapter, released on December 4, being the last chapter of the series, evokes mixed feelings in the readers, but alas, joy and satisfaction at the prospect of seeing the well-deserved ending for the characters they love, trumps the negative emotions.
