South Korean Entertainment agency JYP, found itself in the middle of a controversy related to plagiarism. JYP is one of the most famous and influential agencies and is home to several award-winning artists like Twice, Stray Kids, and now to the recently debuted NMIXX. The girl group NMIXX has debuted on 22nd February 2022 with their album Ad Mare, which consists of tracks named Tank, O.O, Tank ( instrumental), O.O (instrumental). However, this is where the problem started. Though fans were very much elated that their much-awaited girl group debuted some scenes from the song O.O was found to be uncannily similar to ATEEZ’s universe.
Soon after the similarities went viral, comments were showered as to how every frame resembled so much of ATEEZ’s concept that it’s hard to not pay a look. Some even commented that just because they produced one thing, it doesn’t give them a free hand to recycle it and put it into another song, especially when it’s for a different set of people.

JYP Embroiled In Controversy Related To Plagiarism Of Content
The title track O.O had similar scenes which brought all the controversy. The main problem arose when fans of ATEEZ, ANITY pointed out how the pirate-themed concept was used as it was in ATEEZ’s video. Every Kpop group has it’s own universe which consists of it’s storyline, songs, themes and they revolve around those. ATEEZ’s universe has a pirate theme concept, and according to the fans, by looking at both ATEEZ and NMIXX’s video one can’t even tell that it’s different from each other.
To back this up, a theory popped out which mentioned how the studio DIGIPEDI, produced NMIXX’s O.O and they have previously worked with ATEEZ as well as it had similarities with their song ‘Illusion‘. It had a pirate ship floating in pink clouds and the same kind of resemblance was found in NMIXX’s video as well. Fans were of the opinion that even after copying the scene, they didn’t stop as they tried to copy their universe as well. However, all this came back to square one after K- Netz pointed out that though they have previously worked before, Illusion was not produced by DIGIPEDI.
Twitter Gets Flooded With Hashtags That Began Trending
After this, Twitter began to get flooded with quotes and hashtags like JYP should apologize and JYP should explain this plagiarism. NMIXX is a unique name for a group and it comes from the fact that the group will present songs from different genres. Though they claimed to present absolute originality, netizens deny this fact as according to this them, there is nothing new in it as Aespa has already done this before. Due to this, NMIXX’s take on MIXX POP is nothing new that has been presented on the table.
After ATEEZ, Twitter began trending Aespa’s song ‘Next Level’. However, in all of this, the girl group is receiving too much hate. It is to understand that all the trending hashtags or complaints are towards the company and the girls should not be the target point. Whether a copy or not, like others they also must have put their heart and soul into the performances and getting such a tremendous amount of hate after debuting just days back must be heartbreaking. We will wait until the company responds to the queries, however targeting the girls won’t help. It needs a special mention that in this case Twitter has been divided into two poles, where one side is spitting hate while the others are understanding the situation and are standing by the girls.
Meanwhile, the songs which attained so much controversy are not being appreciated as well. According to some, it’s all over the place. A huge number of pre-orders came when the members of the group were not even revealed. Some were upset about the fact that the girls trained for years only to get ridiculed by people due to the company’s decision.
