Pop star Justin Timberlake returned to the stage just days after a DUI arrest. Timberlake is on his “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” and addressed the recent incident with fans during a concert in Chicago on Friday, June 21st.
“It’s been a difficult week,” Timberlake reportedly said while introducing his song “Selfish.” He added, “I know I can be a challenge to love sometimes, but you keep showing me love, and I love you all right back.”
Earlier that week, reports confirmed Timberlake’s arrest in the Hamptons on Tuesday, June 18th. According to the Sag Harbor Police Department, officers pulled Timberlake over for failing to stop at a stop sign and swerving out of his lane.
The police report reportedly states that Timberlake showed signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and difficulty balancing. He also reportedly refused a breathalyzer test three times.
Despite the arrest, Timberlake was released on his own recognizance after a court appearance and is scheduled to return for a hearing on July 26th. His lawyer says the single DUI charge stems from the refused breathalyzer test, and Timberlake maintains he only had one martini.
The “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” kicked off in Vancouver in April and is Timberlake’s first tour in five years. Following Chicago, the tour heads to Madison Square Garden in New York, which is scheduled to continue through December.
Meanwhile, Timberlake’s wife, Jessica Biel, seemed unfazed by the news. Biel was reportedly filming her new show, “The Better Sister,” in New York City on the day of the arrest. Last month, Biel spoke about the challenges of balancing their busy schedules with their two young sons.
