Justin Timberlake, 43, was arrested in the Hamptons for driving while intoxicated. He was driving a 2025 BMW after midnight on Tuesday, ignored a stop sign, and failed to stay in his lane. A Sag Harbor Police officer determined he was intoxicated during the stop.
He appeared in court on Tuesday morning and was released from police custody. He is scheduled for a virtual court hearing on July 26, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Justin Timberlake, the Grammy-winning artist, is currently on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, promoting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was.” The tour’s next stop is in Chicago on Friday.
His attorney, Edward Burke Jr., declined to comment, and other representatives for Timberlake did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Justin Timberlake has admitted to excessive drinking in the past. In 2019, he apologized in a now-deleted Instagram post for his “strong lapse in judgement” after a video showed him stumbling while holding hands with his “Palmer” co-star Alisha Wainwright, stating,
“I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior.”
In a 2014 interview revisited in “Oprah’s Master Class: The Podcast,” he mentioned once drinking “a whole bottle of whiskey” after a set where audience members threw bottles at him and other performers onstage.
In 2002, Justin Timberlake spoke out against drunk driving after a fan was killed by a pickup truck while waiting to see him, calling the tragedy a demonstration of “the horrors of drunk driving.”
He first gained fame as a child star on “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” with Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, and Christina Aguilera.
He became a pop music sensation in the late 1990s and early 2000s with NSYNC hits like “Bye Bye Bye” and “I Want You Back” before starting a solo career in 2002.
