The origin of Yuji is an unsolved mystery in the series. The history of his parents is also unclear and has mysteries related to it to date. In the last moments before the death of his grandfather, he was willing to reveal the truth about his parents but died before he could.
Even though Yuji is one of the protagonists, there is still a lot we don’t know about Yuji Idatori. He has been dragged into dangerous situations many times in the series, and the story has not reached the desired time yet to actually delve into his past and his actual self.
Yuji was just an ordinary student until he was capable of consuming the finger of the strongest sorcerer in history, Reymon Sukuna. Yuji’s development is unclear, but definitely, the writer Gege has not forgotten about Yuji’s implications.
Could there be a connection between Yuji and Sukuna?
It was mentioned by Megumi once, that there are 1 in a million chances that Sukuna’s soul has been incarnated and Yuji could be that incarnated soul. Both Yuji and Sukuna resemble the same look from ancient times. Even, Choso considered Yuji as one of the curses as he saw him in a vision inside his head of “Womb: Death”
Megumi sensed that Yuji had a tremendous amount of cursed energy emanating from him, and it could be because he had a connection with Sukuna’s finger. As earlier, Yuji took a daring step and swallowed Sukuna’s first finger.
This might have allowed him to gain immense cursed energy and become Sukuna’s vessel. Since Sukuna is the King of Curses, Yuji should not have been able to survive this poison, but he did, which shocked Megumi and the fans as Yuji acclaimed himself as an ordinary person.
Before Sukuna became the King of Curses, the fallen angel and giant demon. In the past, he was an ordinary boy with pink hair, which is the most notable point of connection between Sukuna and Yuji’s resemblance. Yuji could be the descendant of Sukuna, as it was mentioned by Gojo as well that once every thousand years, a person appears who can eat curses without getting possessed by them.
Mystery behind the Yuji’s bloodline.
In chapter 208 (the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen of the time it was written), some revelation of Yuji Itadori’s parents was witnessed. Especially, about his mother and a connection with the most evil Jujutsu Sorcerer of history, Kenjaku.
Kenjaku is an ancient Jujutsu Sorcerer well known for his devotion to his life to learning more about Cursed Energy and Cursed Spirits. He can do anything in order to collect unique abilities that enhance his powers.
He also holds the ability to transfer his brain into someone else’s to expand his power and lifetime as long as he wishes. Whenever he transfers his brain to someone else’s body, a mark of stitches appears on the forehead of the body. His most infamous incarnation was Noritoshi Kamo.
Other than Yuji’s grandfather (Wasuke Itadori), his parents are rarely mentioned in the story. In chapter 143, Yuji is seen as a baby held by his father, Jin Itadori, but no presence of his mother is seen, which indicates that she died before his birth.
In chapter 208, a woman with stitches on her forehead appeared, referring to Wasuke as “father-in-law”. She is assumed to be Karori Itadori, Yuji’s mother, who was supposed to be dead by then. It was Kenjaku who might have possessed Karori’s body as she had those visible stitch marks.
Yuji Itadori could be Kenjaku’s son, as he must have given birth to Yuji while he had possessed Karori’s body. When Choso ( one of the offspring of Kenjaku, whom he created when he possessed Noritoshi, the nine Cursed Womb: Death) tries to kill Yuji, he sees a vision in his head where Yuji is with him and Choso’s brothers having dinner, which as only possible he would be his sibling.
All these facts lead to the fact that Yuji is created by Kenjaku, but the purpose he has behind it is still unclear. He may have known that Yuji was his son when he became Sukuna’s Vessel Kenjaku is the most evil Jujutsu Sorcerer in history, and he must have had a plan behind the creation of Yuji which will hopefully be revealed in further chapters soon.
