Jujutsu Kaisen fans are highly disappointed with the major events that have been taking place in the second season. Readers of the manga were already prepared for what was coming their way, but viewers who solely watched the anime were caught off guard in the latest episode, Episode 19.
Gege Akutami’s writing once again left fans in a slump, unable to recover from what happened to their beloved character in Episode 19.
Before Kugisaki bid goodbye to the fans in the last episode, Kento Nanami died in the series. We can see how much the recent decent deaths have been taking a toll on Itadori.
It’s not surprising that fans are going through the same emotional trauma as the other characters in the series. Even manga readers were somewhat prepared for Kugisaki’s death.
But nobody was truly prepared to witness Kugisaki’s death for the second time. Kugisaki’s death has affected the fans as much as it did in the manga. But recently, they have taken to X (formally Twitter) to express their disappointment regarding the recent death of their favorite character.
Some fans expressed that Kugisaki’s death was more traumatizing for them. The entire childhood flashback before her death felt like rubbing salt in the wound. They had not even recovered from bidding goodbye to Nanami; now they have another character’s death to witness.
Viewers of Jujutsu Kaisen feel like they’re having mental breakdowns every week, and now they are on the verge of giving up the anime altogether to find some mental peace.
Fans are dropping Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen fans have expressed their disappointment regarding Kugisaki Nobara’s death in episode 19. They believe that the entire death scene is truly unnecessary since Kugisaki is not such an easy sorcerer for Mahito.
She was fully capable of protecting herself, and she could easily avoid Mohito’s hit in the latest episode. But since creator Gege Akutami decided to cut her off from the series for some unknown reason.
None of the fans could come up with an explanation for why Kugisaki had to die at the hands of Mahito. Fans enjoyed watching Kugisaki and Itadori together.
Their friendship and banter are something they could never forget. Even though Kugisaki would not be there with Itadori for the rest of his journey, some fans are expecting that Kugisaki will be revived.
Since they do not want to expect that they will never get to see their favorite character again in the series, Kugisaki’s character did not receive the justice she deserved with a rushed death and no further conclusion.
Viewers are expecting Gege Akutami to bring back Kugisaki in the series, but manga fans are pretty sure that it is not happening anytime soon.
So, the question arises whether fans are quitting Jujutsu Kaisen. After witnessing the death of the character, they had been following since the beginning of the series.
The answer is no. Fans are not planning to quit the series; rather, they are taking a break from it to recover from the loss of Kugisaki Nobara’s death.
What Happened to Kugisaki Nobara in Episode 19?
In episode 19 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Akari reminded Kugisaki about Nanami’s words. She warned her that they deliberately kept quiet about Leiri so Kugisaki would not risk her life. Kugisaki already knew everything, but she did not want to back off when her friends were fighting out there. Meanwhile, Mahito was using humans as his puppets.
Kugisaki had to step in to fight with Mahito; she had heard the report from the other sorcerers. Mahito was using his double, and he could alter his shape. But the only drawback was that he could not tweak transfigured humans or interfere with the souls of others. He wounded Kugisaki during their fight, taking advantage of her heightened emotional state.
But she figured out that Mahito was using a double during her fight. She smoothly used her hairpin technique to put him on his knees. Kugisaki noticed that her curse energy exploded far away from her present location.
She also figured out that the pressure from Mahito’s curse energy was quite dull. Mahito was having a hard time because of Kugisaki’s hairpin technique during his fight with Itadori. The after-effects of the curse energy lingered for too long, so Mahito could not move his body according to his will.
Since the resonance was working, Kugisaki assumed that Mahito would not fire off his attacks as fast as before. Instead, Mahito proved her wrong and decided to run away. Kugisaki could easily ignore him and head towards floor B5. But she could not let Mahito run free because it was going to cause more issues for them later.
Mahito went to the underground, and Kugisaki thought it was a good opportunity for her. When she followed him inside the basement, Mahito was planning to merge his body and heal himself.
Itadori figured out Mahito’s plan, but his warning was too late. When Itadori shouted at Kugisaki to run away, Mahito had already landed a hit on Kugisaki’s face.
Even though Itadori successfully smashed Mahito’s double head against the wall, he was too late to save Kugisaki, and Mahito was not able to kill Nanami with his one touch. He was anticipating finding out what would happen to Nanami Kugisaki. After the hit, Kugisaki held on to half of her face.
After that, we got to see her grow up as a child until she finally became a sorcerer. Kugisaki said her final words to Itadori and told him life was not so bad for her before the left side of her face burst in front of Itadori.
