The dark fantasy manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has introduced several formidable characters over time. One that stands out is Megumi Fushiguro, who wields the rare ability to summon cursed spirits known as shikigami to fight on his behalf.
His most powerful shikigami is Mahoraga – an adaptive combat specialist with multiple deadly weapons in its arsenal that can counter nearly any attack thrown at it.
Very few can hope to defeat Mahoraga thanks to its versatility in adapting to and overpowering adversaries.
While Megumi and his signature Mahoraga shikigami are forced to be reckoned with, there exist select others within the JJK universe who potentially boast the strength to take Mahoraga down.
The scope of abilities and specializations among the characters allow for multiple possibilities in rivaling Mahoraga’s adaptive nature.
It remains to be seen what ingenious combinations of jujutsu sorcery and cursed techniques could pose a legitimate risk to defeating the mighty Mahoraga in battle.
The protagonist, Yuji Itadori, has also been showcased in several intense fights against dangerous cursed spirits, putting his own physical prowess and courage on full display when confronting foes.
As the series continues, viewers eagerly await to discover what new feats and contests of power the key players like Megumi and Yuji will demonstrate when pushed to their limits against entities like Mahoraga and others that cross their path.
Every Character Capable of Beating Mahoraga
Here is a complete list of characters that are capable of beating Mahoraga in the series.
5. Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu stands out as one of the most extraordinarily talented jujutsu sorcerers alive in the Jujutsu Kaisen realm.
As a Special Grade elite, he harbors tremendous potential that even Gojo predicts could one day parallel his own legendary power.
This speaks volumes about the prodigious strength Yuta has yet to fully tap into.
With massive reserves of cursed energy at his disposal, Yuta’s abilities are further amplified by the vengeful spirit of Rika, who fights dutifully by his side.
Though vulnerable to Mahoraga’s anti-cursed spirit sword, Rika boasts considerable evasive skills to avoid direct hits.
Nonetheless, Yuta hardly requires Rika’s assistance to overpower nearly any opponent when combining his ample physical combat skills with various jujutsu techniques.
His signature reverse-cursed technique spells trouble for most adversaries.
Yuta’s copy ability has enabled him to acquire a vast range of jujutsu skills over the years as well, significantly expanding his repertoire.
This was recently displayed against the immensely dangerous Kenjaku, proving Yuta’s capability to adapt and utilize a diversity of techniques specifically to counter and defeat nearly any foe, including adaptive beasts like Mahoraga.
As Yuta continues honing his talents, the limits of what this prodigy can accomplish with such versatile skills remain to be tested in future confrontations.
4. Yuki Tsukumo
Yuki Tsukumo has cemented herself as one of the most capable jujutsu sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, bearing the rare distinction of Special Grade.
Her technique of imbuing attacks with imaginary mass to intensify impact force proves devastating when combined with her shikigami summon Garuda.
This grants Yuki destructive powers potentially rivaling Mahoraga in direct combat.
Against Kenjaku, Yuki demonstrated the frightening scale of her strength. Were it not for Kenjaku’s tricky use of host bodies, many argue Yuki could have promptly defeated him in a single imaginary mass-empowered strike before he adapted defenses against her abilities.
This likely translates to her chances against Mahoraga as well – if she overwhelms it swiftly with an intensely strengthened blow, Yuki may defeat the adaptive shikigami before it can mount effective countermeasures.
Additionally, Yuki always has her astronomical-like Domain Expansion in reserve as a last resort, creating a ‘black hole’ trap capable of consuming nearly anything in its vicinity – potentially including powerful entities like Mahoraga.
Very few sorcerers can, therefore, match the raw power and doomsday arsenal Yuki wields.
Should confrontations turn unfavorable, she assuredly has the means to overturn the odds in her favor against virtually any opponent.
3. Kenjaku
As a primary antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen, Kenjaku has established himself as a cunning and formidable powerhouse.
Currently controlling the immensely talented sorcerer Suguru Geto’s body, Kenjaku wields tremendous jujutsu abilities in addition to an army of cursed spirits at his disposal.
While Mahoraga’s positive-energy sword poses a threat to cursed spirits, Kenjaku’s intellectual brilliance lends him an edge against nearly any opponent.
Even if Mahoraga can counter a portion of Kenjaku’s arsenal, he has proven profoundly adept at strategizing, analyzing weaknesses, and devising customized approaches to overwhelm adversaries.
He would likely identify vulnerabilities in Mahoraga’s adaptations and assault from unexpected angles. Furthermore, Kenjaku himself claimed the only figures that give him pause are Sukuna and the rare users of the Six Eyes technique paired with Limitless – implying he views himself as unthreatened by Mahoraga’s capabilities.
So, while Kenjaku may not demonstrate raw power rivaling the strongest sorcerers, his combination of sharp cunning, Geto’s techniques, and an army of curses at his disposal equip him to outmaneuver and defeat adaptive fighters like Mahoraga.
Kenjaku remains a challenging foe through his intellect and skill in maneuvering fights to his advantage based on each opponent’s strengths and limitations – allowing him to cunningly neutralize nearly any threat in his way.
2. Sukuna
As the self-proclaimed King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna stands as an apex villain within Jujutsu Kaisen, feared by allies and enemies alike for his dreadful power.
During an earlier confrontation, Sukuna – with only 15 unsealed fingers – effortlessly destroyed Mahoraga with a single attack before it could adapt defenses, proving the Ancient Sorcerer’s overwhelming might.
Now revived into Yuji Itadori’s body at nearly full power, Sukuna has yet to showcase his complete capabilities.
But his brief displays of strength have cemented him as Mahoraga’s superior, evidenced by the curse’s instant defeat.
Sukuna clearly possesses mastery over a versatile arsenal he can unleash, along with ample cursed energy to fuel various lethal techniques.
This is not to undermine Mahoraga’s own might and adaptive talents.
But set against the heights, Sukuna has attained over 1000 years of accumulation, refinement, and battles as the King of Curses. Even the formidable Mahoraga struggles to pose an actual threat or test his abilities for long.
Such is a testament to Sukuna’s fearsome standing at the apex – where he views most enemies, Mahoraga included, as beneath his notice until they can demonstrate power rivaling his own. For now, very few, like Gojo Satoru, could push Sukuna to fight seriously.
1. Gojo Satoru
Within Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo Satoru has firmly established his standing as the strongest sorcerer of the modern era through his overwhelming mastery of Limitless and the Six Eyes.
This was epitomized in an earlier three-versus-one battle against Mahoraga, Sukuna, and the cursed spirit Agito, where Gojo emerged victorious.
Against this trio of lethal opponents, Gojo nonchalantly unleashed his full talents – utterly devastating Mahoraga with a flawless barrage of Black Flashes before obliterating it with Hollow Purple, his ultimate technique.
Notably, this Mahoraga iteration exceeded the one recently witnessed in capabilities. On top of that handicap, Gojo had been grievously injured with only one working arm during this fight – yet still demolished all three enemies simultaneously at the height of his powers.
Having since only grown stronger over time, Gojo sits firmly atop Jujutsu Kaisen’s hierarchy and remains equipped to counter and defeat even the versatile Mahoraga.
Very little can threaten Gojo when fighting seriously, thanks to his overwhelming cursed energy stores, reflexes, and mastery, allowing him to creatively wield Limitless to adapt to any situation.
It’s evident no single fighter, not even the mighty Mahoraga, poses him any real danger given his perfect handle over his strengths.
More About Mahoraga
The process of summoning the formidable shikigami Mahoraga involves reciting a sacred invocation while extending both fists out and slightly upwards. Unlike typical manifestations, no hand signs are formed to conjure this particular Divine General.
Upon appearance, Mahoraga cuts an imposing figure as a towering, muscular humanoid equipped for battle. Its physique sports four protruding wings stemming from the eye sockets along with a tail-like extension from the rear of its head.
Levitation above is achieved via a large, ornate eight-handled wheel indicative of a harmonious cycle that rotates in response to external stimuli to which Mahoraga must adapt.
Covering its legs are traditional black hakama bottoms bound by a white waist sash.
Central to Mahoraga’s threat level is its signature adaptive ability. When injured by an attack, the overhead wheel rotates to allow Mahoraga to develop defenses against that same technique immediately for future use.
This applies to offensive tactics as well – by adapting and evolving to bypass an adversary’s specific defenses over time. Few can then rely on previously effective skills once Mahoraga has adjusted.
Supplementing this is Mahoraga’s terrifying brute strength, which is capable of destroying concrete constructs or propelling enemies through whole buildings with one strike.
Additionally, the shikigami wields a forearm-mounted Sword of Extermination wreathed in positive energy lethal to curses – adding another layer of danger for demonic foes.
The combination of adaptive talent, immense power, and an anti-curse blade make Mahoraga a profoundly formidable asset and threat. It earns a reputation as a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut.
