The most recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, number 251, centered around a battle between Yuji and Yuta against the powerful antagonist Ryomen Sukuna. Yuta returned to the manga’s storyline to team up with Yuji to fight Sukuna, who is referred to as the King of Curses.
However, Sukuna managed to counter their attacks by utilizing his dangerous Dismantle technique on the two heroes.
This technique resulted in Yuta sustaining some form of injury or slash wounds. Since the specifics of the damage were not explicitly depicted, it remains ambiguous just how severely Yuta was hurt.
But given previous major events in the plot, there is a strong likelihood that this latest attack from Sukuna has sidelined Yuta from returning to further action or team-ups with Yuji any time soon.
His reappearance after chapter 251 seems improbable based on how the last installment concluded.
The focus appears to now be shifting solely to Yuji’s continued confrontation with the formidable Sukuna.
Speculations Surrounding Yuta’s Fate After Sukuna’s Devastating Attack
The most recent Jujutsu Kaisen storyline, in chapter 251, depicts the intense clash between series antagonist Ryomen Sukuna and protagonists Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori.
Sukuna unleashed his deadly Cursed Technique called Dismantle directly upon Yuta and Yuji. This shattered the protective domain that Yuta had summoned.
Shortly after, fellow jujutsu sorcerer Maki Zen’in emerged and managed to catch Sukuna off guard, stabbing him from behind with her unique weapon, the Split Soul Katana.
This surprise attack could be setting up an impending face-off between Sukuna and Maki.
However, the chapter may have subtly shown Yuta sustaining grave injuries from Sukuna’s previous attack.
The visuals illustrate Yuta being sliced completely in half by the Dismantle technique across his torso.
Given the explicit imagery of blood spilling out from these wounds, it can be reasonably concluded that this attack nearly killed or critically harmed Yuta.
Yet the manga story quickly moves past this, not addressing Yuta’s status and instead shifting focus to Sukuna’s next battle against Maki.
Some fans may cling to a small hope that Yuta somehow survived being sliced by Sukuna’s devastating Dismantle technique.
However, the likelihood of him living through such an attack is extremely low.
It should be recalled that this same Dismantle move was used previously by Sukuna to slice powerful jujutsu sorcerer Satoru Gojo in half, ultimately leading to Gojo’s death.
Given the lethal capacity of this technique even against the strongest fighters, there is little chance Yuta endured it.
Considering series creator Gege Akutami’s tendency for impactful storytelling, the next chapter could realistically open by confirming Yuta’s death rather than jumping to the anticipated Sukuna and Maki confrontation.
Losing Yuta would be a critical setback for the protagonists in facing the nearly unstoppable Sukuna.
Some optimistic fans have theorized the Dismantle blast used on Yuta and Yuji was a weaker version, owing to Sukuna’s drained Cursed Energy reserves at the time.
So it may not compare to the full lethal technique used on Gojo earlier. However, without seeing the next chapter, this remains speculative.
There is a faint possibility that if Yuji avoided major injury himself, he could tap into his Reverse Cursed Energy to perhaps heal Yuta.
This would allow Yuta to rejoin the fight against Sukuna alongside Maki. But for now, it is entirely ambiguous whether Yuta will return or has met his end.
More About Jujutsu Kaisen
In the fictional realm of Jujutsu Kaisen, all living beings produce mystical energy within their bodies known as Cursed Energy. This stems from the negative emotions that people naturally feel and circulate internally.
Ordinary individuals cannot control the flow of this energy, however. As a result, they continuously lose Cursed Energy over time, leading to the creation of Curses – a race of harmful spiritual entities that primarily seek to inflict damage upon humanity.
These Curses manifest as ghastly monsters, vengeful spirits, ghosts, and supernatural beings.
Those known as Jujutsu Sorcerers, however, have trained to gain control over the Cursed Energy in their bodies.
This allows them to manipulate it consciously and also reduce the amount that gets leaked out.
The most powerful Sorcerers and Curses can further refine this raw energy and utilize it to perform personalized Cursed Techniques – special attacks or abilities unique to the user or their bloodline.
An advanced application of Cursed Techniques is Domain Expansion.
Here, the user constructs a sort of pocket dimension of variable size. Within the Domain, the user’s offensives are guaranteed to hit their target and also increase substantially in overall might.
This makes Domain Expansions extremely dangerous if one faces an opponent who can summon them.
