The long-running battle between the jujutsu sorcerers and the extremely powerful King of Curses, Sukuna, has had devastating consequences.
Higuruma sacrificed his life in an attempt to give Yuji just a small opening to strike at Sukuna.
However, after that plan fails, Sukuna readies himself to eliminate Yuji once and for all, intent on destroying both him and the other sorcerers who stand in his way.
Just in the nick of time, Yuta shows up and confronts Sukuna directly. Sukuna takes an interest in seeing Rika, Yuta’s cursed spirit ally, in person for the first time.
Meanwhile, amidst the intense focus on Sukuna, the scheming sorcerer Kenjaku has nearly been forgotten. He falls into a clever trap laid by Takaba, giving an opening for Yuta to catch him off-guard and decapitate him.
Though now severed, Kenjaku’s head continues to speak. More details are needed to confirm whether he has definitively been killed off for good.
Kenjaku’s Last Stand and Yuta’s Vengeful Showdown
In chapter 243 of the manga, Takaba makes a sacrificial distraction against Kenjaku to create an opening for Yuta to attack. Yuta capitalizes on this instantly and slices Kenjaku’s head clean off his body.
Caught completely off guard, Kenjaku only senses Yuta’s presence after he has already been decapitated. With his last words before the chapter concludes, Kenjaku ominously states that his “will” shall be inherited by another.
The story then shifts focus back to the intense fight against Sukuna, where Yuji and Higuruma bravely confront the formidable King of Curses. After several dramatic clashes, Yuta finally enters the battle in chapter 248.
However, according to preview summaries for the upcoming chapter 249, the mangaka will return to the scene of Kenjaku’s decapitation and reveal what transpired in the aftermath.
More details are still needed to determine if the villain has definitively been killed off for good by Yuta’s surprise attack.
A quick flashback shows that the curses have broken loose, so Yuta allows Rika to handle containing them. However, despite being decapitated, Kenjaku is still clinging to life, with his severed head flying through the air.
Kenjaku then alters his original plan to fuse humans and Tengen, now relying on Megumi to carry it out instead through the Culling Game rules he changes using Kogane.
Before Yuta can react, Kenjaku reveals he already has an unspecified backup plan in place. Yuta immediately slashes at his head again, likely finishing him off for good this time.
Not holding back any fury, Yuta viciously cuts up Kenjaku’s face without allowing him even a moment more to speak. Unlike the other sorcerers, this is personal for Yuta, who has resented himself for years for not killing Geto when he had the chance.
This forced Gojo to later kill the friend he once knew after Geto’s body had been taken over by Kenjaku. Gojo swore to finally put Geto’s soul at peace by killing Kenjaku.
However, not wanting Gojo to have to kill his best friend’s form again, Yuta took it upon himself to eliminate the villain instead.
More From Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 249
The spoilers then shift back to the present-day fight as Yuta enters the fray against Sukuna. Yuta notices that Sukuna’s healing abilities seem to be restored back to full strength, meaning he may soon be capable of using his Domain Expansion again.
Yuta starts to berate himself for not joining the Sukuna raid team earlier. He thinks that Maki could have taken on Kenjaku instead, freeing himself up for this battle.
But Yuta reassures himself that it was necessary for him and Rika’s specific skills to be the ones to finish off Kenjaku, as well as to contain the rampaging curses and protect civilians.
Yuta swings his sword at Sukuna, but it gets easily caught mid-strike without Sukuna even touching the blade directly. Recognizing this, Yuta instantly lets go of the sword and lands a punch to Sukuna’s stomach.
Then both Yuta and Rika begin unleashing a flurry of tandem attacks against the powerful villain. Immediately after, the spoilers show Yuta activating his Domain Expansion “True & Mutual Love” to counter Sukuna.
